Welcome back to Terrible Two Some Tuesday, where two sisters tell you a haunted story and every tale comes with the side of family drama. I'm Ashley. I'm Simone, and today's episode is the Black Eyed Kids. You are? Yeah. I didn't know that. The first time I ever heard about them, I was like, that is creepy as fuck. Oh fuck. For sure. Um and it's the day before Halloween where you are at. And um, so we decided to give you a little creepy bonus episode. Yeah, I'm ready for it. Brian Bethel was a journalist who lived in Abilene, Texas. Being a senior journalist, Brian's career depended on factual and valid reporting. But after an encounter with two creepy fucking kids in 1996, Brian's credibility would be damaged forever. The first reported encounter of black-eyed children came after Brian was sitting in a parking lot. He was writing a check for his internet bill, which I checked out because I was like, I don't think home internet existed in 1996, but it did. Yeah. Anyway, he was writing a check to pay his bill when he saw two kids, aged around nine to twelve, dressed in hoodies, approaching his car. Brian said the kids seemed mature and confident. They weren't fucking around or scared. They were serious and calm. Once the boys reached his car, one of them tapped on the window. Brian instantly felt an irrational fear in his nervous system that he could not explain. He rolled down his window about an inch and when the boy spoke, Brian said his voice had an odd urgency to it. The boy said that he and his friend wanted to see a movie at the theater, but they left their money at home and needed a ride to his house to get it. Brian thought that was weird because the movie they wanted to see had already started, so the logistics of taking him to their house and then driving them back in time to see the movie was irrational. Brian was like, First of all, I'm not letting two kids I don't know in my car, and second of all, you're a fucking liar to me. But it wasn't until Brian looked up at the face of the kid at the window that he saw this little fucker's eyes were completely black. Like, no whites, no irises, all black. So Brian was like, something here is fucked, but he resisted the urge to run them the fuck over and tried to remain calm and normal. The kids became more insistent about needing a ride and started to become demanding. Brian rolled up his window and put his car in drive, and the kids' voices went from calm to threatening, and they started to press up against his car window. He hauled ass out of there, and when he looked in his rearview mirror, the kids were gone. Ooh, creepy. Brian blogged his experience to the world, and this would engender hundreds of people to come out of the woodworks with their own stories of black-eyed kids. The stories all had three things in common. The kids would appear at people's front doors, parking lots, or abandoned roads. They would ask permission to come in their house or car, and their eyes were all black. I would have run those kids over.
SPEAKER_02I'm just I feel like every um every like tale that I've heard of them is the same thing. Like you get they the people get super anxious and the kids talking like insist on like they get more and more insistent. They get like almost threatening when you don't give them what they want.
SPEAKER_00Yes. Black-eyed children are commonly described as being a bluish, gray, pale color, usually wearing clothes that don't make sense for the weather or the year, and they don't talk like children, but with a more seasoned tone of an adult. People who encounter them report feeling an overwhelming sense of dread or anxiety, and although they are never physically threatening, they'll ask permission to come in your house or car with tenacity, and are reported to leave no trace of their presence once they're gone. So let's get into the theories of what these creepy little shits are. One paranormal theory is that black-eyed children are actually demonic. Oh. Obviously the black eyes would lead you to believe that they're demons, because it would be logical to assume that if you don't have color in your eyes, you don't have a soul. Yeah. Also, it would be so demon-coded to pretend to be a helpless child to try to gain access to your home or car. There are a lot of reports of people just seeing black-eyed children and feeling a drop in temperature and a sense of dread because they're in the presence of something evil. Another paranormal theory is that these creepy little door-to-door salesmen are extraterrestrial. Oh, okay. I've never heard that one. Yeah. They're the children's lack of human behavior leads some to believe that they are aliens who are not familiar with how children should act, like their clothing and the tones of their voices. Their pale gray skin and their lack of emotion have linked to what are called greys, which are a type of alien that are often reported in often reported in alien and UFO sightings. Yeah. So if you Google the aliens known as greys, you get the following description gray or gray or grayish blue skin tone, oversized hairless heads with large dark um large dark almond-shaped eyes that lack whites, small mouths, missing nostrils, and no ears. They're also short and frail, between three and four feet tall, and have thin and long limbs. So some of this fits. Yeah. Some theories, this is interesting, have gone as far as saying that black-eyed kids are a hybrid of human children and aliens, resulting from a failed breeding breeding attempt. Okay, that's weird. Yeah. If you've ever seen or read anything about alien abductions, you know that most people who have claimed to be abducted often claim that they have a mass amount of time loss, like hours or days where they don't remember anything. A lot of people who claim to see or talk to black-eyed kids also say they experience the same loss of time and memory.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I didn't know that. Okay.
SPEAKER_00There are psychological theories as to why people see them, um, like sleep sleep paralysis or hysteria. I feel like a lot of paranormal stuff is blamed on sleep paralysis. Oh, for sure. Um, which sleep paralysis is scary as fuck. Yeah. I've I guess I've never technically experienced sleep paralysis, but I have experienced where like I wait, I like wake up and can't move, but I don't see anything. I haven't seen anything.
SPEAKER_02So I've experienced like the medical version of sleep paralysis where basically like my um brain woke up before my body and I couldn't move, but nothing paranormal.
SPEAKER_00But it should be known that sightings of black-eyed kids are reported from all over the world and have been known to go back decades. Oh. Also, this is a paranormal podcast, so I'm not interested in why Sigmund Freud thinks you should have a better relationship with your mom so you don't see black-eyed kids. Let's get into the good part, the encounters. In 2017, a trucker named Doug Doug Dave pulled into a truck stop late at night to get some shut eye. He started here knocking on his driver's side window and saw a girl and a boy aged around twelve in threadbare clothes. It was freezing, uh, but neither child seemed to even notice the temperature, and even in their ill-prepared clothing. We grew up in North Idaho and mom always told me, uh, just like you'll have to walk home. Yeah. These kids obviously need a lesson in proper clothing for weather. Of course. Their alien mom should definitely let them know. Uh the kids asked if they could have a ride somewhere, and Dave was like, Yeah, fuck that. And when he looked closer at the kids, he realized that they had all black eyes, and he was really like, Yeah, fuck this. Our uncle was a truck driver, and obviously, like your husband's a truck driver. For something to scare a man that drives truck, yeah, has to be some creepy fucking shit.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I wonder if Tim ever experienced anything like that. Because he was a truck driver for like 30 years or something.
SPEAKER_00Long time, and he drove everywhere.
SPEAKER_02Was a long haul truck driver. Yeah. Like he was like all across the country. I wonder. I'm gonna ask him next time I see him if he's ever experienced anything. I bet he has. I bet he has, but I don't think he'll tell me.
SPEAKER_00I bet he would. You think he's kind of soft in his old age. He was getting softer, that's true. So I think he would. And he'll tell you about all the times he like beat the shit out of people. Yeah. So Dave started his truck and the kids started to pound on his window and became almost frantic in their cries and pleas for help. He started to drive off and looked in his side mirrors. He said he saw the kids running after his truck at an inhuman speed. Ooh. And then disappeared. After this, Dave's truck started to have a bunch of electrical problems, even though mechanics could find nothing wrong, and Dave became sick with migraines, insomnia, and a cough that wouldn't go away. In one story, a dad recounts how he took his family on vacation in Lake Country, California. They were staying in a motel and described the area as nice and family friendly. On their fourth night in town, there was a knock on the motel door. The guy ignored it because, well, what the fuck else are you gonna do? And the knocking persisted until the man heard growling coming from the other side. The guy yelled out that he had the wrong room and they weren't expecting anyone. The knocking stopped until it started again just a few minutes later, and he could hear a girl yelling, Let me in. He said the voice had no emotion, and then he started to hear it all down the motel corridor. Numerous voices shouting, Let me in. Oh fuck that. He went to the window to see what was happening. He saw two people entering the motel and he said he looked they looked relatively normal until the woman saw him standing at the window and he looked up and he saw she had totally black eyes. Oh, so this was like a full-grown adult? Yeah. Oh. When everything seemed normal again. The man went to the reception to be like, hey, some weird shit's happening. Zero stars, don't recommend. And the receptionist had no idea what he was talking about and had received no other complaints.
SPEAKER_02Okay, what is the receptionist gonna do about this?
SPEAKER_00I d like, hey, can you can we move rooms? Yeah. A man named Roy describes laying in his bed one night and hearing tapping noises on his windows. He dismisses the tapping as some punk ass teenagers being pranksters. It was 3 a.m. Must be nice to be a man. Yeah. Be like, no big deal. I'm definitely not a rapist or serial killer. Um, someone knocked on his door. He calmly got out of bed and opened the door to see two young boys in thin jackets and pants. It was December, but he said the cold didn't seem to bother them. He described the younger boy's voice as monotone and emotionless when he asked to use the telegraph. This man Roy is completely unbothered. He tells them to reconsider their lives because asking an old man to use his telegraph ain't funny. And he closed the door. Okay. The tapping on the window starts again, and the boys start yelling to let them in. He called the police, but the dispatcher didn't take him seriously. While the tapping and screaming continued, Roy went back to bed, and the only answer he wanted to know was what did they want with the telegraph? Uh that's the only question he asked. Roy has seen some shit in life, apparently, because he does not give a fuck about these creepy kids. He was more insulted that they thought he was old, apparently. Apparently. This next one's straight from the book The Trilling Chilling True Terror of the Black Eyed Kids by G. Michael Vasey. I have my own experience of these black-eyed kids. It happened a few years ago. I've never been able to really think of a rational reason for what happened. It just happened. I headed out to mow the lawn. In the front of the ditch of my road I have bushes and flowers near neatly set up. To my bitter surprise, someone had gone by and stepped all over my roses. I was pretty upset. The next day I saw two kids walking down my road. Keep in mind my road has several houses, so we all know each other very well. The kids look to be around fourteen or fifteen years old. I've never seen these kids before in the neighborhood. I wanted to go outside and ask them if they messed with my roses, but I figured they're just kids and I'd let it slide this time. The kids stopped walking and just stood on the road right across from my house. That's a good hundred or so feet away. They just stood there. I was looking at the window and they were just standing right there. I went to my room to go get my shoes and when I came out they were gone. It was around 8 p.m. and I was starting to get it was starting to get dark out. My power went off and on for a few times. That's never happened before. We usually have very stable electricity. Which is like what I don't focus on everybody. Yeah. Around 8 20, I heard deep knocking at my front door. I went over to the door, turned on my porch light, and looked through the little hole on my door. It was just pitch black, even though the light was on. I didn't know why, but I was extremely terrified. I started to put my hand on the handle and asked who's there. Some kid answered, Sorry to bother you, but we are lost and need to borrow your phone. I have a spare cell phone, you can borrow for a few minutes, I told them. Let me go get it and I'll come outside with you. The kid just said, No, you let me in right now. And he started banging on my door. I'm not talking about just hitting it, but it was like something very big and wide was smashing against my door. I said, You quit that right now. I got a gun, and if you try anything, I'll shoot you. The kid kept screaming, let me in right now, you're making a mistake. I grabbed my gun and held it off to the side of my leg. I put my hand on the door and unlocked the door. This is where I made my mistake. Oh my god. I opened the door expecting either of those kids or just one kid with a weapon or something, but these weren't little kids. Standing at my door were two people and both looked young, but their eyes gave them away. They were pitch black. I felt terrified again. I felt like putting my shotgun down and letting them in. I'm not sure why I felt that way. As I had the door open for those three or four seconds, the taller kids started to walk to forward to come in. I kicked my door to shut door shut as hard as I could and I locked it. At this point I heard them both crying and screaming in a strange, distorted, high-pitched way, followed by some banging on my door again. I went to check my back door just to make sure it was locked. Thankfully, my back door was locked, and by the time I headed to my front door, they just stopped. So one thing strange thing about this encounter is that the children standing on the other side of the street during the daytime. Yeah. Like watching the house.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Also, why in the fuck would you open the door? I don't I would I never open my door. No.
SPEAKER_00So don't come to my house. No. Another story a man retells how his wife and he just moved to Las Vegas from a small town. One morning around 4 30, there was a knock on the door. The man said because he was used to knowing everyone in town that he used to live in, he didn't think twice that it was weird that someone was knocking on the door that early. You keep on knocking, but you can't come in. He answered the door to a teenage kid in a black trench coat and sunglasses eating an apple. The kid asked to come in and warm up. It's Vegas. It's Vegas. Pretty sure you're good in your trench coat, bro. Right? The man told him no and shut the door and locked it. He heard the kid knock again and he answered it. Before he could even say anything, the kid said, Can I at least get some ketchup for my apple? Ew. This is not a black-eyed kid. This kid is stoned. Or pregnant. The man told him no and that his wife was calling the police. He shut the door and called out to his wife. His wife never heard the kid talk and thought her husband was talking to himself. They left that day for work and there was no sign of the kid anywhere until they came home from work that night and saw a half-eaten apple at the top of their porch stairs. Creepy. Don't like that. No. This next one got me in the boo-boo, his dad would say. A couple in the mid-80s were living in New York and drove their car to a restaurant. While parking the car, they heard someone knock on the driver's side window. The wife said when she looked over, she saw two teenage boys in hoodies who were pale and looked stoned, quote unquote. The husband opened the door and got out and was just gonna ignore them, but when the wife got out, she turned around and saw that the kids had entirely black eyes. One of the kids asked for a ride and the husband was like, nah, fuck that. The kid said, It won't take long, we're just two young people who need a ride. The wife thought the phrasing was weird for teenage boys, but the husband barely noticed and told them to take the subway. As the husband turned around to go in the restaurant, the kids started screaming at him, Invite us into your car, we can't get in unless you invite us. The husband finally turned to look at the kids and saw his fa and his face went white after seeing the two black holes in their heads. For months after this, the wife was terrified. She said every time she went to sleep, she would see them in her head, and she was scared they would show up in their bedroom. After some time passed and she was less traumatized, she asked her husband if he remembered the experience like any man, he said. Yeah shit was weird. And then told her that he saw them again outside his office downtown. Oh, he's just now telling her this? Yes. They told him they needed a ride and gave him an address, but the husband told them he was going to call the police and they went away. Oh, I would have gone to the address. Months later, the husband and wife were moving to a suburb in New Jersey, and the wife gave her husband the address of the house she wanted to go see. His face again went white when he saw the address, was the same address the black-eyed kids gave him months earlier. What the fuck? Yeah. I don't think I'd be moving in there. No. So you sent me this story on TikTok by a creator named Ashley Inc.
SPEAKER_02Oh, she's the best. If you don't follow her, you have to. It's good. She is so good at storytelling in a really quick way. And I think she has a YouTube also that has like longer versions, but she's amazing.
SPEAKER_00I have two stories from her. Okay. The story describes a fourth grade teacher who gets a new student introduced to her class. There's no advanced notice and no records that came with the student, just a random Wednesday in October. This girl shows up. The teacher sees the student, has all black eyes, and figures it's a medical medical condition, and reminds herself to ask the nurse about it later. It wasn't uncommon for kids to show up out of nowhere and have no records, as a lot of kids are in between homes or moving, so she was like, well, I'll wait it out and figure out what's happening later. Except all the kids in class are freaked the fuck out by this girl and won't sit by her. And the girl's completely silent. Like won't say her name, won't like doesn't say shit. Days pass and the girl still hasn't said anything. The teacher tried connecting with her, asking her her favorite hobbies and like what she likes to do, and she can't get the girl to say anything. She gave the girls girl crayons to draw with, and the girl just grind them up into fine dust. Oh. Please don't do that. Yeah. So when so then comes parent-teacher conferences, and the teacher wasn't even expecting parents to show up with this girl since weeks had passed and no paperwork was ever filed, meaning there was no contact for her. The teacher figured she may have been homeless or in some sort of temporary placement. But, lo and behold, two parents show up and the teacher says they look relatively normal. The only thing that seems odd at first is that the dad is wearing a full-on suit and it looks like that's the first time he's ever worn it, almost like he bought the suit for this conference. The teacher tells the parents that the girl is a good student, she's doing her work and receiving good marks, but she would like to find a way to make her more social, but the parents are just like, it's cool, she can talk, she's just quiet. The teacher's like, I don't get paid enough for this shit, so whatever. She asks the parents if they have any questions, and the mom says, Has she told you anything? Oh my god. And the teacher's like, What the fuck do you mean? And the mom says, Has she told you anything about what she sees? And the teacher's like, I literally get paid nothing. Why is this happening to me? And the mom says, Sometimes she sees weird things that haven't happened yet. And the teacher says, No, she hasn't, because she literally doesn't talk. Yeah. And the parents just look at each other and nod, like, okay, cool. The mom looks at the teacher and says, She told us she doesn't like the window in your room. And the teacher's like, What the fuck do you mean? And the mom says, She says it opens the wrong way. And the teacher says, The fuck it does. I don't have any control over that. Yeah. And the mom says, She says it can let things in and that sh that she doesn't like. When suddenly the dad stands up and is like, cool piece.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so these definitely sound like aliens, and this is their first time coming to Earth. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Did you ever see that um movie Meet Joe Black with um Matt Damon? Tried to watch it. It's really long.
SPEAKER_02No, it's Brad Pitt. It is Brad Pitt. I tried to watch it, but um, I was in high school and I was just it was summertime and I was like, ugh, I just want to be outside. So I never did actually finish it. So the movie's not that great, but there's one scene where Brad So Brad Pitt is dead.
SPEAKER_00Dead. Oh, it's death. He's death. Okay. In as a human. Okay. Um, and there's one scene where they're having dinner and they're like passing the bread around and like doing all these human things, and Brad Pitt is like enjoying it, like watching it, like, oh, this is so entertaining to like watch these humans like do this weird shit. Um, and it's a really fucking good scene. Uh just watch that scene. The rest of the movie is kind of shitty. Um, so the teacher watches the parents walk out to the parking lot, but they don't get in a car, they just walk into the trees like mole people. Okay. The next day the teacher goes to the office to see what their names were, but they never checked in. So she asks if paperwork has come in yet, and they say, No, she withdrew, so don't worry about it. Oh, weeks go by and she gets the class photo back from Picture Day, and she's looking for the girl, but the girl isn't in the picture, even though she remembers the girl being there that day. When she asked a couple students if they remembered her, uh, no one did. Oh, what the fuck?
SPEAKER_02That's weird that like she remembered them. She remembered the girl, but like the students didn't.
SPEAKER_00Yep. Like no one remembered her. Creepy. She has another creepy as fuck black eyed kid story on her page. And it goes a little something like this from my Aaron Carter fans. Rest in peace.
SPEAKER_02Oh, by the way, the stories that Ashley Inc. tells on her TikTok are stories that like her viewers have submitted to her. Yeah. They're not her story. Like she's not repeatedly seeing black-eyed kids herself that I know of. If you are, I'd do something about that.
SPEAKER_00I don't know what, but a guy and his pregnant girlfriend are in North Carolina and they move into this little apartment. It was less than an affluent part of town that he said they wouldn't normally have lived. Snob and a half. Yeah. But they were desperate, so they moved in anyway. The first day they're there, an old as fuck lady comes to the door. He said she had gray stringy hair and missing teeth. This guy's like the real Eldon from Cluis. But the lady had a fruitcake for them. And they notice it's moldy and has a film on top of it. Oh. But they didn't want to be rude. So they take the cake and invite her in, but she declines and says, No, I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know not to answer the door at night if someone knocks. And they're like, Alright. She obviously means like criminals or something. Yeah. They say goodbye, a couple nights go by, and it's late at night, and there's a knock at the door. Just like the old lady told him not to fucking do. Dude answers it, and it's two children in clothes that look to be from the 1930s or 40s. They had completely black eyes, but he was like, Maybe they have some weird medical condition. All of them. Yeah. He asks, What's up? And one of them points past him into his apartment, like toward his room, where his pregnant girlfriend is, and says, Can we have some hair from the baby? What the fuck? I don't know how to respond to that. Like I know. Yeah. You can't have my babies. How the fuck did you even know that there was a baby? Well, she's like eight months pregnant. So she's like obviously very pregnant.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I didn't realize they saw her. Yeah, like she was like coming out of the room. Oh.
SPEAKER_00They pointed at her. He's like, excuse the fuck out of me. And his girlfriend comes to the door and she's like eight months pregnant. And the girlfriend is like, What do they need? And the other kid cuts her off, points to rebellion and says, Can we have some hair from the baby? The girlfriend's like, Where the fuck are your parents? And the kids say they live down the hall. They close the door and watch the kids walk away and go in one of the apartment doors and close it behind them. The kids came back another night and asked for milk. And dude was like, Nah, you're good. They came back a third night and asked for a piece of ribbon. And that is when he noticed that the old lady was watching from the stairs. He asked the old lady, Do you know these creepy little gremlins? And she's like, Never heard of them, and walks back upstairs.
SPEAKER_02Why does he keep opening the door to them?
SPEAKER_00That's just leave them alone. Yeah. The next night there's another knock, and now he's getting pissed. But when he answers it, it's the old lady. She's shaking and looks angry, and she has another fruit cake. She pushes the cake in his hands and is yelling at him, I told you not to answer the door. So the girlfriend shuts the door and is like, These people are crazy, you just stop answering the door. Yeah, for sure. Thank you. As a woman. Yeah. Stop answering the door. So not long after this, something in their kitchen breaks and he calls maintenance to come fix it. He asks the maintenance guy about the kids and if they're okay. And the maintenance guy is like, Yeah, no one lives in that unit. No one's lived in there for years. So he tells the dude, like, yeah, we saw two kids go in there. Something fucked up is happening. Maintenance guy is like, God damn it, I just want to fix this thing. But goes and checks the apartment. It's perfectly clean and there's nothing in there. Like it's totally empty. Okay. To this day, the guy says the knocking continues and they just ignore it. Also, the old lady died 30 years before this. I'm just kidding. It just had like a very anticlimactic ending. You want to hear it happens when you let these little terrors inside?
SPEAKER_02I do want to because I've never actually heard of a story where they do come in.
SPEAKER_00Okay, good, because it wouldn't matter because I was going to tell you anyway. Okay. One of the most famous stories of black-eyed kids is from 2015. A couple named Jim and Susan lived on the outskirts of town. They were getting ready for bed one night when they heard a knock on the door. They went downstairs and when they opened the door, they find two small children between the ages of nine and twelve. They're wearing outdated clothing and shivering even though it wasn't cold outside. Their heads were down and they asked to come to use the phone. Jim was like, Yeah, sure you little weirdos, and led him inside. Once they crossed the threshold of the door, Susan felt intense dread and panic and felt that she was in the presence of something evil. Their pets started to act strange, and when Jim asked if they were in an accident, the kids just kept repeating not to worry as their parents would be there soon. Susan offered them hot chocolate and when the children looked at the looked up at the offer, Susan saw that they had all black eyes. The kids asked to use the bathroom and Susan was like, Jim, get these creepy little fucks out of here. And then Jim's nose started to rapidly bleed for no reason and the electricity went out. Okay. The children came out of the bathroom and were like, Our parents are here. Bye. And the kids were gone and the door was wide open. Should they look to see if there were parents out there? Jim and Susan looked outside and saw a car idling in the street with two full grown adults in black suits standing outside the car. They had no idea how long they had been downstairs or how long the kids had been in the house. After this, Jim and Susan both had nightmares of the kids standing at the end of their bed and became violently ill with headaches, nausea, and vomiting. Their cats disappeared, their pet bird died, and Jim was diagnosed with cancer. What the fuck? They ended up selling their house, and after they moved out, the house mysteriously burned to the ground. And no one could find out like how the fire started. Oh my god. The only other story that's known of someone letting the kids in the house resulted in the people completely disappearing. Are you serious? Yeah. So like abducted. Yeah, like the neighbors were like, we literally never saw them again. Oh my god. This next story is kind of what convinces me that black-eyed kids are demonic in nature. Okay. John and Doug are at a conference in some larger downtown city. As the conference ends and everyone is heading out to the parking garage to get in their cars and leave. Doug comes up to John and says that some creepy ass kids are by his car and asks him to let Doug in his car until they leave. John does and starts driving towards Doug's parking spot. When they turn the parking garage corner, John and Doug sure shit see three kids aged between 10 and 16, two boys and one girl. When John stops the car, all three kids start approaching. The youngest looks at Doug and says, It's scary out here all alone. All we wanted was a ride. Doug was like, fuck this, and went to get out of the car because no little youths are going to get in the best of old Doug. But as soon as Doug goes for the handle, oh hello. Please don't get on my computer. Thank you. When Doug goes for the handle, John sees the kids suddenly appear older and sees their eyes are totally black. John hauls ass in reverse and goes down three stories at 30 miles an hour in the garage. Jesus. When he gets to the last story, he sees the older kid of the three kids standing at the bottom of the garage. They leave the parking garage and wait it out. Finally they go back to Doug's car and the kids are gone. John follows Doug out of the parking garage, but as Doug started to go through an intersection, John's fear floods his body again as he sees Doug get hit by a truck in the intersection and dies instantly. Oh my god. John looks two blocks down the road to see all the three black-eyed kids standing on the corner. Holy cow. How like fucking traumatized we can be after that. Something interesting I found in my research was that in other countries, specifically the UK, the black-eyed kids take on the MO of ghosts rather than actual children showing up at your door. And one story a girl finds her brother talking to himself in his room. When she asks who he's talking to, he says, a little girl with black eyes. Time passes and nothing happens, but then one night, while the girl is sleeping, the little brother comes in her room to crawl into bed with her. Shout out to older siblings, letting us sleep in your bed all our lives. But seriously, when I look back on our lives, every big thing that ever happened to me resulted in me sleeping in your bed. I know. Like when I broke my leg and no one believed me. And when mom died. Yep. And when I broke up with my boyfriend. Yep. There's other times that I can't think of. I'm a hero. Well. Anyway. The girl turns on her bedroom light to look for the TV remote so they could fall asleep to the TV. They're back in bed with the door open, the light on, and the TV on, drifting off to sleep, when suddenly the light goes out, the door slams shut, and the TV turns to static. When the girl tries to open the door, she can't. It's as if someone is hiding or holding the door closed. As quick as it all happened, the door opens, the TV goes back to normal, and the lights come on. She says that their house was built in 2003 and there's no reason to be haunted, and the only thing she can think is that the black-eyed kid ghost was there befronting her brother and like responsible for whatever happened. Another story in the UK explains that a mom and her daughter were hiking in a popular spot when they suddenly hear screaming that sounded like a child. They start running toward the crying, but they couldn't find anything. They stop to catch their breath and turn around and find a little girl standing behind them with her eyes hands over her eyes. The woman asks if she's okay and if she was the one yelling for help, but when the little girl puts her hands down, she sees her eyes are totally black. The mom reached back for her daughter, and when she turned around again, the girl was gone. Other stories like this also come from France and Australia.
SPEAKER_02How weird that they like show up differently in different regions.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Um, but to every villain story, there's a hero, right? Yeah. Here are two stories wherein there may be evidence that someone or something is keeping black-eyed kids at bay. Okay. A person in Kansas went inside their house and locked the door, but no sooner than the click of the door lock could be heard, someone started knocking on their door. The person looked through the peephole and found two teenage kids standing on their porch. While the smaller kid was silent, the taller kid was banging on the door and shouting, We have to use your phone. When this person opened the door and saw the kids' eyes, they knew exactly what they were looking at and when those and what those kids were. The taller kid said, I swear to God, we won't hurt you. You can trust us. The person shut the door and ran to get their I wrote fun. Uh I'm guessing I meant gun. But when they opened the door again, the kids were gone. But instead of the little demon children, there was a little girl there with white hair in their place. The person pointed the gun at her and yelled, get the hell out of here. To which the girl replied, You don't need to do that. I don't even want to get in. She asked if there were boys at the house earlier asking to get in. The storyteller confirmed this, and the little girl asked how long they had left, how long ago they had left. The person replied that they were on the porch right before she showed up. The girl said that they should still be close. Don't worry, you won't be seeing them again. Before the girl left, she turned to the homeowner who saw that her eyes were completely white. Oh my god, the somehow the antithesis. The juxtaposition. I love that word. Which is how somehow creepier. Uh for sure. Like, black eyes tell me you're here but soulless. White eyes tell me you're dead. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I mean also blonde kids, children of the corn.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I know. My youngest is kind of blonde. I don't like it. In February of 1988, a man was at an ATM at night in downtown Indianapolis. He noticed a man in black across the street watching him. He said he didn't know how he knew, but he just knew that the man had jet black eyes. He started to get uneasy because obviously this man is about to rob him, but there was more than that. The man felt an irrational fear that he felt deep down that whatever this man was going to do was not going to be okay. When ATM man starts to walk back towards his friends, he sees the black eyed guy following him from across the street. Obviously, ATM man is shaking. He has to be very hard to keep his or he has to try very hard to keep his demeanor, but he's pissing his pants with fear. Suddenly a man wearing a ball cap and a university hoodie comes up behind him, puts his hand on the man's shoulders. ATM man says he suddenly felt calm and safe. Sweatshirt guy says to him, Don't worry, you're alright. We have everything under control. ATM man says the sweatshirt guy turns to the black-eyed guy and stares him down. The black-eyed guy sneers at ATM man and walks away. What the fuck?
SPEAKER_02So I there's like a group of opposite black-eyed children who are like protecting people from them. Apparently. How bizarre. How bizarre to experience both in one night. Yeah. I I feel like I would just go to bed and be like, I'm just gonna stay here for a while.
SPEAKER_01They wouldn't go to the bar.
SPEAKER_00Like, I'm done. I naturally avoid children. Right. And you couldn't pay me enough money to answer my door to a stranger. So I know the black-eyed kids aren't coming for me. Right. But if you ever find yourself in this situation, my advice stay on the couch in your house shoes because no black-eyed children ever fuck with a lazy person.
SPEAKER_02Well, that that's probably true. I don't answer my door. No. I had to answer my door the other day for the like FedEx guy, and I was like, just leave it. Just do your job. Well, he needed my signature, which I didn't agree to when my work sent me the stuff that they were sending.
SPEAKER_00But so what would you do if you came into contact with black-eyed kids?
SPEAKER_02If they started knocking on my door, I would obviously look through the peephole because that's what it's for. And if they were children, I would definitely, you know, if I just see kids at my door, I ignore it because to me, like anytime a child has come to the door, they're either selling some shit or they're like, We saw your kitty in the window. Can we see her?
unknownIs that happened to you?
SPEAKER_02Yes. I definitely don't answer the door to children anyway. So I probably would never even know that they were black-eyed children. If they were yelling at me through the door, I would for sure be like, That's hostile energy. I'm not fucking answering for you.
SPEAKER_00So, like, if they were little kids, like four, five, six, and they were in normal clothes, I would think about answering the door, but in reality, I would probably just call 911 and be like, these I don't know what these kids are doing, you know? Yeah. But I would not answer the door to teenagers. No, no, they're up to no good. Absolutely. Also, I have learned in my true crime uh listening, don't help people. No. I'm sorry. No, just don't help people. Nope. No good comes from it, especially as a woman.
SPEAKER_02Yep. I remember one time my friend Heather and I were at the mall, and it was like this time of year, October, and it was getting dark, but it wasn't dark yet. And we were getting in her truck, and this older guy, like probably his 40s, had the hood up on his truck, like I don't know, 60 feet away, and he yelled over at us, like, hey, can you guys help me? And I remember Heather instantly was like, Nope, and got in the truck, and she was like, Get in the get in the truck. And I was like, Okay, how old are you? Uh we were in our early 20s. Um, but I never even like stopped to think like this guy has a malicious like idea behind his dead battery. Like, I was just kind of like, oh, whatever. Like, we're in the mall parking lot, it's fairly busy.
SPEAKER_00Like, that's so weird because that kind of happened to me. I was on my way home from my friend's house. I was probably like 17, and it was like probably midnight, and I was going down um that I think Hazel, um, like going home, and some guy was in his truck or like his truck and his hood was up, and he was waving his arms at me, and I almost stopped, but then I was like, No, uh, I'm gonna keep going. And the next day I told dad and I said, I feel bad that I didn't stop. And he said, No, absolutely not. You should not have stopped. You did the right thing.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And I was like, Okay.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I just remember Heather saying, like, if he really needs help, he'll find a grown adult to help him.
SPEAKER_00That's what I tell my kids all the time. Like, uh adults do not need help. Yeah. I was listening, just to, you know, now I'm gonna rant here. I was listening to a true crime podcast. I was listening to Necronomopod, which is really good. Oh. Um, they were doing the episode on Jerry Brudos, which was the he was the um the shoe fetish serial killer. Oh, have you ever heard of him? I I don't think I've ever heard of him. Pretty interesting. So uh uh he like kidnaps women and murders them and does fucked up shit. But this one lady was in a parking garage and she was on her way to sign divorce papers, and he comes up behind her and like grabs her, and she just like started like going for his eyeballs and was like, no, fuck this. Like, I love and she got away, but I love it that she was like, Not today, yeah, Jerry.
SPEAKER_02She's like, I am getting out of one situation I don't want to be in. I'm not about to get myself in another.
SPEAKER_00It was like, I'm about to start a new life, yeah, and you're not gonna fuck it up today. But it reminds me, like, never let them take you to a second location. Like, do not get in the car, do not leave, scream as loud as you can, go for the eyeballs. Fire, not help. Right. And then like try to scoop their eyeballs out of their head, yeah, or like press their eyeballs to the back of their skull.
SPEAKER_02You do this number where you like hold onto the side of their head and push your thumbs into their eyeballs as hard as you can.
SPEAKER_00You just you fight like hell because they're looking for women who are like not loud, are not gonna fight. Yeah. Like you make you make a fucking scene.
SPEAKER_02And they're looking for women who are helpful. Yes. I read this thing. Um, this guy was in prison for like kidnapping women, and they basically asked him, like, how how did you find your targets? And he said, I would drop something. And if they were if they would either like kick it over to me or ignore it, I just ignored them. But if they were if they picked it up to give back to me, I would kidnap them. Right. As they're saying, they're they're helpful, they're naive to the fact that something bad is out there. They're not looking, they're not looking, they're in like a they're yeah, vulnerable position. Yeah. So ladies don't ever be helpful, even if it's to a woman, because Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um look at like Iris or uh who was a fucking Iris.
SPEAKER_02Iris Eileen?
SPEAKER_00No. No, Eileen. Are you talking about the worth who killed a bunch of men? Yeah. No, she's fine. Yeah. She's good. Love her. She's she's not taking anybody's shit. She's great. Um, no, there's Iris something, her and her boyfriend like kidnapped. Yeah. And then there's the people in Ireland whose moira um they would like use her to like get kids in their car.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So definitely like don't trust anybody ever. Nope. It's a sad state of the world, but that's that's how like that's what you have to. How many hundreds of thousands of women go missing every every year in the United States, especially? So keep your guard up. Don't be helpful. Ignore men who need your help, ignore women who need your help. Just ignore everyone. Yeah. Yep, pretty much. Pretty much. Give him the finger.
SPEAKER_00I don't know if I'd go that far, but I have a really good what I'm gonna do when I die. Okay. I want to know what happened to Richard Simmons. Oh my god. Yeah. Is he still a recluse or did he die? He died. But there was a whole podcast called Where's Richard Simmons, and it was really fucking good. And it was like, What the fuck?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. It was super good.
SPEAKER_00Like he went from this boisterous personality who was like out in the public and like he would like be in his yard, like watering his flowers and shit, and a bus would drive by and he'd like, hi, and he would like sign autographs to everyone and hug everyone to like disappear. Disappeared. And it's like a fight between like his friend, his trainer or something, and his maid. Like his whoever that friend is, I can't remember who he is, says that the maid is like was like keeping him in his house.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's really bizarre. It's a good podcast. You should definitely listen to it.
SPEAKER_00And he had a shit ton of Dalmatians.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I remember that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Once again, we're at the point where I don't know what I would do when I die. Um you gotta think of some shit. I know. I really need to be more prepared for this. What about the one I told you the other day? I forgot it already.
SPEAKER_00Marilyn Monroe.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I would definitely like even though I think that I know what happened to Marilyn Monroe.
SPEAKER_00We all know what happened to Marilyn Monroe.
SPEAKER_02I would um like for sure 100% find out what happened to Marilyn. Like watch watch it happen. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, we know. Get justice for her because we know it wasn't a suicide. We know. We know it wasn't an accident. Camelot.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Motherfuckers.
SPEAKER_00I don't want to end on this note. This is the last episode of the season. I don't want to end on this terrible, terrible sadness. Yeah. I don't blame you. Uh, so I'll tell you a funny story from when I was young. Is it embarrassing? Uh, it's pretty embarrassing. It's I mean, it's not it's kind of sad actually. Oh, okay. Let's end on that note then. So I was in seventh grade and I was first chair clarinet. Oh, wow. I was in band. That's impressive. Thank you. Um, I wasn't good. It was just everyone else sucked really bad. Oh. Um, so I had really big buck teeth. And I had really chubby cheeks.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna stop you for a second. Okay. You know what I'll do when I die? What? I'm going to prove to you that Phil was the one that you said had big teeth, not me. That one day when we'll see. That's what I'm gonna do. We'll see, won't we? That's what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna prove to you that it was Phil that said it, not me. I don't know who said it, but I know one of you fucking said it.
SPEAKER_00And I know whoever didn't say it laughed.
SPEAKER_02That's true.
SPEAKER_00So you're both guilty. But Phil said it, not me. My husband likes my big teeth. Anyway, go on with your clarinet story. Okay, so this is not a um like American pie thing. Um, so I was in band class and I had big buck teeth and chubby cheeks, and I have red hair and freckles. Like, there was a lot to make fun of. Okay. Like I I was a walking, like trollis. Four feet tall on a good day. Yeah, I was chubby. I was weird. Um, I was in band. Like that I that says enough. Christ. Um, so I'm in band and I don't uh like in band class and we're just like fucking around, and this kid named Kyle had a rat tail in his hair. Yeah, okay. Okay, rat tail Kyle, who played the saxophone, and he was like sixth chair saxophone.
SPEAKER_02How many saxophones did you guys have?
SPEAKER_00A lot, like twelve. Um for whatever reason, he thought of a new nickname for me. Oh god. And that nickname was Nut Muncher. And that nickname followed me through middle school. And now it's true. I'm not kidding.
SPEAKER_02I don't think I had like a derogatory nickname that I knew of in middle school and high school. A girl in eighth grade did try to start a rumor that I was pregnant. Oh. But obviously that was a lie.
SPEAKER_00Well, uh, yeah. I had lots of nicknames because my name's Simone, so I always got sassy sass or like yeah, so so original. Okay, everyone used to call me Simon, right? I know. I mean, yeah, and as an adult, I didn't really care, but as a kid, I was like really embarrassed by it. Um also by the way, anyone who meet anyone who like like women will go home and tell their husbands or boyfriends, like, oh, my friend Simone at work, whatever. And they'll meet me and they'll be like, Oh, I thought she was like Samoan. Or they'll be like, Oh, I thought she was like you know, like they just are super uneducated. Read a fucking book, the name Simone's French. Yeah. Simone. Okay. Anyway, one time this kid met Widmeyer. Oh, you're calling it out. Yeah, I'm saying his his full Christian name. Okay, his yep. He's a fucking slum lord now of his dad, who I think was mayor.
SPEAKER_02Oh is mayor and like the old lady died because she didn't have any heat. Uh yeah, okay. Call him out, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Also, Matt Widmeyer, you failed the eighth grade, and there was a point that you could drive to middle school. So fuck off. Anyway, everyone made fun of my first name. So Matt one day was like, Well, what's your middle name? And I told him, and he said, Oh god, that's worse. Oh, like Matt is such a great fucking name. Matt. Also, you're you fucking failed the eighth grade. So fuck off. Yeah. Um, yeah. I should I should just start calling out my bullies by their full name. You should. I can't remember Kyle's last name. Kyle the rat tail.
SPEAKER_02I don't really remember like having any bullies.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I had so many.
SPEAKER_02I didn't have bullies, but like I definitely there were girls that like I didn't get along with, but I wasn't like bullied that I remember anything.
SPEAKER_00The sad part is that I could get along with anybody. Yeah. I was like so nice. Okay, I don't know. I tried to be nice. I don't I think my nice is other people's like maybe neutral. Yeah, I think so. Uh, but everyone was pretty mean to me. Another time I accidentally told someone's little sister that her sister, who was my age, danced like a slut. And then that sister and her older sister, who was the scariest motherfucker I've ever met, tortured me for like three years.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Three years is excessive, but you did deserve something for that. I did. That was not cool of me.
SPEAKER_00Also, she stole uh my potential boyfriend in ninth grade, so she got back at me. It's fine.
