Special guest, Brittiany Karlson, retells her true story of one of the oldest neighborhoods in our hometown. She also tells a delightful tale of meeting Ashleigh’s husband for the first time and how our dad was her savior after Ashleigh couldn’t be bothered to carry beer to the beach. Brides, churches, and compounds can’t be that bad, can it?

Welcome back to Terrible To Some Tuesday, where two sisters tell you a haunted story and every tale comes with a side of family drama. I'm Ashley. I'm Simone. And today's episode is Wallace House Part 1.
SPEAKER_02Welcome back, listeners. Ashley is real excited for today's episode. She's over here peeing her pants over our special guest.
SPEAKER_01Yes, our special guest today is Britney, one of my best friends for um we established 18 years now. So I'm super excited to have Britney tell her story, and then that story will lead into another story, which is part two. So you have to make sure to come back next week.
SPEAKER_02When tell me, tell me the story of how you two fell in love. Okay. When did you first where did you meet Brittany?
SPEAKER_01So um it was 2008, and I frequented this bar with a bunch of friends all the time, and Britney started working there, and I'm pretty sure it was her first day. And um I remember she was wearing a green tank top, and um, I think it was around St. Patrick's Day or it was on St. Patrick's Day. I can't really remember, but we basically, a friend and I who was also a bartender there, we basically were like, Britney's done working, we're going to another bar now. Let's go. And so we went to this other bar and we proceeded to blackout. And I don't remember anything that happened from there, but we've just been basically tied at the hip since then, except that she lives a million miles from me. But like I said, it's been 18 years and still going strong. I think you guys have been blacked out drunk since then. No, come on, just kidding.
SPEAKER_02Um, I feel like I picture this as a game show, like Britney's on the other side, like this bitch better get this answer right. So 18 years been besties since. So how old are you? You're 43? 43, if you have to actually told my age. It's not like I'm fucking 21 over here.
SPEAKER_01So you I don't do math. So you were 25? I was I was 24 when we met, and then I turned 25 that summer. And Britney was 22. Yeah, I think weren't you 22, Brittany? Britney's not here yet. Oh, shut up. Yeah, I think that Britney was 22.
SPEAKER_02Can't follow instructions for shit. She was a weed bear. Uh she was just a little baby, a little baby.
SPEAKER_01Okay, well, why don't you go ahead and introduce so our special guest today, like I said, is Miss Brittany Carlson. We're gonna let Brittany tell her side of the story first because this, like I said, is a two-part episode, and hers will lead into more. So welcome, Brittany.
SPEAKER_02Hi, I'm so excited to be here. You remember meet Adam, the hairdresser?
SPEAKER_00Um, I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Okay, well, he was one of Ashley's friends, and he used to know this girl Brittany we were at the bar in time, and he would go, so that's like what I sound like how Ashley talks to me. Yeah. Ashley has referred to the Wallace House before. So for listeners, the Wallace House is what we call the house that she lived in in 2008. And Britney actually starts this story before Ashley ever moved into Wallace. Before we get into that, Britney, why don't you tell us about your relationship or experience with the paranormal?
SPEAKER_00Um, yeah. So growing up, I had a couple experiences, um, but I was raised pretty religious. And so I kind of was told that anything like that is demonic and satanic and things like that. So I really um pushed it out of my like conscious. I just didn't want to acknowledge it. You might mean were you Catholic? No, but it was my question too. I was like, I don't even know. Um it was like Pentecostal, it was okay. Okay, we did exorcisms, we had the speaking in tongues.
SPEAKER_02It was isn't it I think Pentecostal is like a branch of Catholicism, I think.
SPEAKER_00I I honestly they took a bunch of bits and pieces from different religions and kind of put them all together. But the closest thing I can say is Pentecostal, just based on how like crazy they acted, like bringing people from foreign countries to do exorcisms on them, like speaking in tongues. Um, it was a bizarre design. But it's some weird some weird stuff.
SPEAKER_01So that's what you're when I think of Pentecostal. I think of like people like vibrating on the floor, like bending over and standing up and like being healed on the spot. Okay, so pescatarian.
SPEAKER_02Is that the fish diet? I think that's the fish that's it's the thing that sounds like pescatarian that is basically catholic. No, uh Episcopalian piscapalean.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, it's basically catholic. Yeah, but like I don't know that's exactly like what I could probably look it up and find out what they claim they are, but Ashley's right. It was like people writhing on the floors, like shaking. Like I see videos of those churches now, and I it like gives me PTSD because I'm like, my gosh, like that's how I grew up. And so I was told like anything from the other side was evil, unless it was Jesus Christ, okay? Like everything was evil.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So unless Jesus was on your toast. You know, for evil. Uh so did you um did you believe in the paranormal before you moved into the house next to Wallace?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I did. Um I like I said, I grew up thinking everything was demons, but as I sort of grew out of that religion and stopped thinking that that was all accurate, um, I started realizing that like there was definitely something more going on, and it doesn't necessarily mean it was all evil. Um, and so I did have a few experiences growing up where yeah, they were pretty freaky and pretty interesting.
SPEAKER_02Tell us about this. Um, she was telling us before we started recording about uh this this thing you saw when you were nine.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so when I was like eight or nine, my best friend, the my childhood best friend, I grew up with her, uh, and I were in my room sleeping in the bed together. And we had this really strange feeling, like both of us did, and we were just like scared for some reason, and we couldn't really figure it out. But our eyes were really drawn to like the doorway, and we both were just staring at it for a couple seconds, and all of a sudden this misty shadow type figure like came in front of the doorway and made this like hissing sound. I don't think I don't it was scary, it was scary. Um, it was like I didn't yeah, and it like moved in front of the door and then kind of pulled back, but then kind of came back and stood there. So it didn't move like a person would or like we would expect. It was like it was it was very, very, very scary. So did could you see through it? It it was like black. It reminds me of like misty like smoke. I don't know how else to explain it. So I couldn't really see through the entity by itself, but like the outer edges like misty smoke. I so you could kind of see through that. Like a must be like, yeah, it was like a big black shadow mass. Yes, and it didn't have a face, it had the shape of like a head, but no, it didn't have any distinguishing features. It didn't have like arms or legs in the sense that it didn't look like a person, it looked almost like like the Grim Reaper's cloak, but like looked all at one, you know? Yeah, there was no arms or legs, it was just kind of shaped like that.
SPEAKER_02Literally at 38, I would be like, I'm not fucking, I'm not I'm fucking, I'm yeah, moving. Yeah, I'm moving.
SPEAKER_00Oh literally, so my best friend and I were sitting there like in the bed, like shaking, and we just kept poking each other, like, no, you scream, no, you scream, no, you scream because we couldn't like need we were too scared to yell or say anything because we didn't know what it was gonna do. So then finally we counted like okay, one, two, three, and we both screamed at the top of our lungs, and then my stepdad came down with a gun. And obviously that wasn't super helpful, but um, we did go sleep in the upstairs living room that night.
SPEAKER_01It is such an um an Idaho man's way of doing things, though.
SPEAKER_00Literally, like, where's my gun? I'm gonna shoot it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, my husband's like do the same thing. Absolutely, and I would be there like that's not gonna be Ryan, but pretty dead, Chris.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like whatever it is.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01I would not I wouldn't recover from that. I wouldn't do well with that.
SPEAKER_02Um I imagine looking back after you got out of that religion, looking back, you're like, Oh, okay, yeah, that was not a preserve.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, exactly. And the interesting thing was my parents brought me like we got to go sleep in the living room that night because we were too scared. And my stepdad and my mom both sat us down and told us their childhood ghost stories. And that was like the first time we'd ever really acknowledged that it wasn't like that it was not just religious based, like that you can see things and it doesn't necessarily mean they're evil or bad, like, you know, so it was just kind of confirming to me, okay, there's something else going on that like I don't understand, but it's it's not all demonic, you know, or it's not all religious based.
SPEAKER_02Do you think that you have um some like medium abilities?
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, and I really push it, push it away away.
SPEAKER_02Push it away. Yeah. Yeah. Um, it's funny because that has my whole life I've been like knowing things or feeling things and um pushing them away because I just like inherently knew like that's scary, I don't want to think about that. And then I started meditating like last year, and I started getting more familiar with what that feeling was, and I was like, oh, those are ghosts, um, those are spirits. And so I just started slowly like letting them in. Um, and it's a lot, it's a lot. It's so it's a you're it takes a lot of energy, yeah. Yeah, and like mental and emotional energy to like read something else.
SPEAKER_01So yeah.
SPEAKER_02I yeah. And when you're not used to that feeling, it's very like, I don't like this this feeling, I can feel it, but it's not mine, and I don't like it.
SPEAKER_01Um, so that's interesting. Well, and I think like after everything that happened on Wallace Street, I was like, I'm done, I had no control over my abilities whatsoever. And then after I left that place, I was like, I can't I I don't want to do this anymore. And I like pushed it away as much as I possibly could for years because it was just like I can't I can't live like this.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. For me, it's like after Wallace, I continued having experiences in for a really long time. Um and I felt a little like I was going to psychosis at times. Like it felt like it was making me feel crazy. And so I I tried to shut it out because I'm like, I I can't deal with that and like life all this. Like I can't.
SPEAKER_02And stressful enough without having to deal with the ghost problems too. Yeah. Uh-huh. Yeah. So I'm trying to figure out what's for dinner today. That's that's it's the struggle of every day.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Okay. So 2008, Ashley moves into Wallace. So how long tell us the history of the house that like why you were staying there.
SPEAKER_00So the house, yeah, is directly next door to the Wallace house. What what do you say? Like probably 20 feet. Like oh god, yeah, it was two houses. It was I could throw a rock and like hit the window, you know, it's yeah, close. Um, but I was dating a vet tech. Um we started dating, I think, in like 2004, 2005, and he he house sat for a vet the his boss who was a veterinarian, and his boss specialized in birds. So we had parrots, you know, owls, chickens, doves, his house, robins. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Owls. Yeah, he had an owl and it was on a cheat.
SPEAKER_02Gotta let them train pass. Okay, so he had owls. Where was it being like rehabbed? I don't get an owl in my house.
SPEAKER_00So basically all the birds he took in, except he had his own like parrots, those were his like pets, but every bird he took in was basically to rehab it and try to release it back to the wild. Some of them could never be re-released, like the robin that he had um had a broken beak, so it would never survive. So they kept it. So the owl he brought in, um, it was taken to his, he, I think he was the only veterinarian in the area that specialized in birds. So he took in all of the weird birds. So this owl, I think it had a broken wing. And so we had it like hanging on a chain from the ceiling in a cage, and it it like we would spin it and like its neck would like turn off and then snap back, and like we've had a whole like frozen mice. Like it was it was spreaky. It was a big owl, like it was a big owl.
SPEAKER_02So it was I don't think people understand how big owls are scary. Yeah, they are scary cute. Also, have you ever seen the things on the internet where they lift the owl's like butt and belly up and under it?
SPEAKER_01They have like little chicken legs.
SPEAKER_00Little chicken legs. I believe it. I believe it. Birds are in they're so they're uh not of this world, I swear. Oh birds are strange. So we house that he also had a the veterinarian had a dog too, but so we house that about every week uh or up uh at once a month for a week because the veterinarian had to go visit his parents in Portland. So that's basically the start of why I was in that house next to the Wallace house. Okay. Was it like gradual that things started happening, or was it just boom, all at once? So I think animals have a connection to the other side that a lot of times humans don't notice. Right off the bat, so there was this dog Corey that it was the vets, and this dog Corey was like my little BFF. He slept with me every night. He was just like my little friend. I took him to the lake all the time to go swimming. But he at night he would fall asleep with me in the bed, but he would sleep in the doorway between the hallway and the bedroom. And no matter how many times I tried to get him in the bed, he would not come in the bed. Like he had to sleep there and he would just growl out into the hallway every night. Oh my god. I don't know what's wrong with you, dude. Like I really didn't it didn't ever cross my mind. Well then the birds would start all freaking out in the middle of the night sometimes too. And when you have like 20 birds like all squawking, you know, it's like a little unsettling. So that all happened pretty much right away. But I um really didn't think much of it. I thought that they were just being weird animals and it didn't like anything. I started to notice, so after my ex and I split and I was house sitting alone, then things started to really pick up. It was when he wasn't there. So like why do you talk about it? I don't know. I think with it's happened to me multiple times with like uh any entities that I've experienced, but they don't tend to like the men that I'm with. Weird. Um it they just either avoid them or they uh go after them a little more than me. It's it's it's in certain date. But I felt like it he I I don't believe, I don't think he believed in any of that either. So like I think it just didn't I think once he was gone it was more like hi, I'm gonna introduce myself type of thing.
SPEAKER_02And they can tell when your like subconscious can tell they're there, yeah. Right. Like that's what I think. Oh, I know that once I started meditating and opening that up, like I can hear them before I get there. Yeah. Um like excited that someone can hear memories. And so maybe it knew that you were like open enough.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And also more vulnerable because you're alone.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah. And once I tell you like who it was, I think it'll make sense too. Um why this little circle moment. Yeah, like why? But so yeah, the dog he got more growly as the nights were going on, and it was to the point where like I just felt uncomfortable walking around the house at night, which I never really felt that way before. But the dog was just very, very he did not want me to leave that bedroom at night at all. Like he wanted me to stay in that room. Deserve dogs. I know, I know they're the best. But girl, you're gonna sleep. Yeah, he's like, you're not I was uh guard, you sleep. Yep, that's exactly orange shift. No, seriously. One night I was in the bed, um, sleeping, and the dog started like growling really loud, and then he started barking. And I was like, that's weird because he doesn't usually bark. And I'm freaked out because I'm alone in this house with like 25 birds and a dog, and I'm like, is there something in here? Like, is one of the birds doing something? You know, why is he barking? And I'm like, whatever, I'm just gonna go get a drink of water. And the way the house is laid out, like it's the hallway. You take a left down the hallway, and then to the right is the kitchen. So I'm walking down the hallway, and my I'm just looking at the ground. I'm like half asleep still. Um, because the dog just woke me up and I'm like, I might as well get some water. And as I'm about to turn the corner into the kitchen, I look up for a second, and there is a woman standing there in a white dress with a wedding veil over her face, and she's just standing there staring at me. And I looked at her and like immediately just flipped around and ran back to the room. That's a no for me, big dog. Yeah, and I covered myself with the blankets. I was like shaking, and the dog was just barking, barking, barking, barking, barking. Could you so you could see her face? Yes, I could see her face. How old do you think she was? I think in her mid-20s, maybe early 30s, she looked pretty young.
SPEAKER_02Did she look did she have like a an expression on her face? Sadness. She was there.
SPEAKER_00Oh that's she was very sad. Um, and she was a full like I didn't process at the time. I I just knew she was wearing all white with the veil over her face. I just in my head and our you know, everything we've ever seen in movies is like, oh, a ghost is all white. So that's just what I thought. And then till later I realized, no, wait, that was not just a white, she was in a wedding dress with a veil over her face. That's so crazy. So you go back to bed. I don't fall asleep. Um, I just like am up all night, right? Yeah, like scared, and then the dog is just he won't go to sleep. The birds are all cacking, like they're all making sounds, and I'm like, I just lay there until the sun came up, and then finally I was able to like get out of bed because I was so freaked out. Like it's she wasn't it wasn't a negative presence, but it's just the fact that I'd never seen anything so clear in my yeah that it scared me.
SPEAKER_02Like, well, it really no one is supposed to be in your house.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, especially a bride of you're like, girl, I'll help you out, but yeah, yeah. Uh, did you see her again? I never saw her that clearly again. There were times where, like, so the birds were also free range in this house, so they were just doing whatever they want. And so love day. It was like living in a rainforest cafe, but like birds and restaurants, but they showed you. But um, so I I would have to go gather the birds at night to put them in their cages, and sometimes they would be like in the closet upstairs on on like the closet uh rod, you know, to sit there. And I would like get the bird and turn around and I would like see something flash across the door playing over. I'd feel something walking past me. So, but it didn't always feel like her again. It felt like there was a man, a male presence there too. Okay. Um but I just blocked it out and I'm like, I am here for the animals, and none of that is happening. And yes, kind of went along my way.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Did you tell anyone?
SPEAKER_00Yes. So I told my ex, and because we still were like friendly, and we would, you know, pass off like taking care of the animals. And so I told him about it, and I asked him if he'd ever seen anything, and he said, Well, no, but I do get weird feelings there sometimes and whatever. But the thing that was so odd about it, and he kept saying is this is a newer house. I don't know what you're talking about. Like it can't be haunted because I think people think you're a house is where they're they're trapped in a singular house. So if it's yeah in a new house, oh, there's no Ghosts, you know. So I told him at the Was it everywhere else? Because I feel like that neighborhood is old.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00That this it was new. Interesting. Yeah. I'm assuming what had happened was some of the property sold, some of the land, and then this house is built in between them. That's why they were so close together.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And once you find out the history of that entire block, it makes a lot of sense. Um kind of everything. So it was a newer house. So he was in complete denial about it, but he did say it was weird how the dog acted all the time. The dog was not as protective of him as he was of me. So the dog didn't really growl or sleep in the doorway when he was there.
SPEAKER_02But well, that's because he was a girl's dog. Exactly. He was my boy, yeah. I know, I know who's gonna take care of me. Exactly.
SPEAKER_00So that was pretty much like the whole story of that house. Just weird things, but I just kept pushing him off, you know. Okay. And then that's when I had met Ashley. Um was like after I'd been there, I was the tail end of when I stopped house-sitting. I still house sat, I think for like maybe a year. Yeah, and then I stopped house-sitting altogether. But I lived next door with in the Wallace house at that point going home together.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So it's funny how we actually found out that we were like living so close together because Brittany went to take the dog out to go to the bathroom and saw all of us like hanging out on the porch all hung over on the house next door. And so, like, we had no idea that Britney housed that at that house. And she didn't have no idea.
SPEAKER_00I wasn't guys live next door. I just like I'd hung out with you guys, partied with you, served you a million drinks, and then I wake up one morning, like after you guys were at my bar, and I had take the dog out, and I think I took a chicken out with me. Um, because he liked to run around in the grass in the front yard. And I looked to the right, and you guys are all slumped over on the front porch. I think it was you, Lacey, Patrick, probably Candy. It was just like a I don't think Candy ever missed a good time. No, no. So, and then that that was just crazy. I was like, I cannot what a coincidence, right?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, for just for weird. I think that that's the coincidence, and the houses that we're talking about are your guys' like this is was like two of the most haunted houses I've ever lived in. Um, and that was like a coincidence. So it's it what I'm trying to say is it's very traumatizing living in a haunted house, obviously, but like what a beautiful thing that came from it. That's true. You think that your friendship is haunted?
SPEAKER_01No. Our friendship was what stood strong against all those ghosts. Oh, you stick together.
SPEAKER_00Yes, they stood you know united. Only two that I want to say like made it, like out of a situation without it. I mean, it negatively negatively impacted us both like tremendously, but I think we were the only two that made it out without like a criminal rec. Well, well, well, but like without I forgot. I forgot what I meant. Thank you, Dan, your dad.
SPEAKER_02Uh okay, oh my god. I probably forgot I was gonna tell that story really fast. I've tell this story. So we talk about our dad all the time on this podcast. Like people who are listening know that he's Hank Hill um from Idaho. And so growing up, our dad always told us if you get arrested, don't bother calling me because I'm not gonna get you out of jail. I'll tell them like make the night hell for you. So growing up, Ashley and I were like, I'm not calling dad. I would have called my grandma. Yeah. Um amazing. Because she would have been like, I'll get I'll walk down there.
SPEAKER_00Um she would have figured it out. We wanted to go night swimming. Um, we only lived a couple blocks from where we were gonna go night swimming, and I honestly had just gotten off work, so I was like not I'd only had honestly this was two. I had two drinks.
SPEAKER_01No cop ever believes two drinks.
SPEAKER_00No, I truly only had two, but the thing was is these guys were so drunk that we were gonna bring beer to with us to swim, but they didn't want to walk and carry it. So it's Ashley. So they no, I would say it was more the guys, uh, but it was just that we didn't want to weigh the beer down the line. So so yeah, we were literally like within two blocks of our house, and I had barely had anything to drink, and we get pulled over. And funny enough, like Ashley was good friends with the cop.
SPEAKER_01Um yeah, but he didn't recognize because he I didn't have my ID on me. No, and so I told him my first and last name, and I go by my middle name. So he didn't like realize that it was me because I had given him my first name. And then when he had us get all of us get out of the car, he realized it was me. And he was like, Why didn't you tell me your middle name? I would have known it was you and I wouldn't have called for backup, but now I can't stop it. Yeah, and then it turned out also that Timmy and Sal had out-of-state IDs, so they were really impressed with us not having IDs and then having out of state IDs. They were really like, Oh my god, this is a shit show. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And I didn't get a breathalyzer. They did like the actual test, you know? Yeah. And so I was wearing this skin tight dress and high heels, and he had me do like the walk downhill in heels, and I never wear heels. So I was like not never be able to do that. So I said, I was like, Can I take my shoes off? I don't wear heels. And he said no. And he put me in, he didn't handcuff me, but he put me in the cruiser, and um, he was super nice. And then he realized who Ashley was, and then he felt really bad. And he said, I really don't want to take you. And I'm like, uh it is what it is. Like, what a nice dance. What it was, he was very sweet, and then he stayed with me the whole time. I never like went into a cell, like he just hung out with me in the waiting hall.
SPEAKER_02I was but for the listeners. Guess who Brittany called? I didn't Ashley called him. Oh, Ashley called Dan Sasser, and that man got out of bed and bailed her out. Yeah, yeah, you did.
SPEAKER_01No, no, no. Actually, I bailed her out, but my car was at the bar, so I had to call dad to take me to my car to get my wallet out of my car, and then to the bail bondsman to bond Brittany out, and then to the jail to get Britney. I'll never forgive dad for that.
SPEAKER_00No, and I know I was your dad, like I think he did pay part of it or something.
SPEAKER_01He paid for it. That's right. You're right. I didn't I didn't have any money anyway, let's be real. Yeah, but we were paid for it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and I remember telling me about that and I said, Are you fucking kidding me right now? Um, and then I said, You wouldn't bail one of us out, but you bailed out Britney. And he was like, Well, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Okay, I was in call with no kid.
SPEAKER_01I was a good kid and I was his kid. I know he probably honestly went, like, I'm sure this is Ashley's fault, so I might as well pay for it.
SPEAKER_02Let's be real though. She she definitely was like, I'm not carrying this beer down to the beach. And she gave the cop the wrong name. So it kind of is Ashley's.
SPEAKER_01But for my penance, I had to carry that beer all the way back from the beach.
SPEAKER_00You dig, you dig, you dig. That is a really bull moment.
SPEAKER_01But that is to say, we were the only ones that made it out friends from this house because we had a lot of roommates coming and going, and I don't contact, I don't talk to any of them. I talk to Lacey and Candy once in a great while, but not very often. So we're the only ones that actually like made it out friends and are still friends.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so without including Ashley as much as possible, you move in to the Wallace house. And why don't you explain like the layout of the house? Because it was a weird layout.
SPEAKER_00It was a weird house, yeah. I moved in, I was definitely like the baby of everyone that lived there. Everybody else was like in their mid-20s, and I was like freshly 21. I started bartending before I was even 21. And so I was like a fresh baby there. And we'll the room that was available. So you walk in and it's this tiny little living room. And to the right was Ashley's room in the bathroom, to the direct left was a dining room, and then like a hallway kitchen, and then you go past the hallway kitchen to the stairs. Down the stairs, uh if you go straight is was my bedroom. Then the left was kind of a living room, laundry room area, and then there was one more bedroom past that. And kind of a weird, weird layout. It was an old house though, compared to the house I was in previously. It was old.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, yeah. And you were the only one upstairs. Yes. I was the only one upstairs, yeah. Okay. So I want to give a little bit of backstory to like this area, because this block has been called like the most haunted area in North Idaho. And specifically the Lake City Playhouse has had a lot of activity. And that's ranked kind of.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's ranked, I think, in the top five most haunted places in Court d'Alene. Yeah. And it will it shared. So the house that I house out at, we sh the parking lot for the Lake City Playhouse shared a driveway with the house that I house out in. And then next door was the Wallace House. So for we were we could throw a rock and hit the lake, the playhouse. It was that yeah.
SPEAKER_02So for people who don't know, Lake City Playhouse was this really old building that um was like a community theater. Um it used to be a church.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I didn't know that. Yeah, so I've done a bunch of research on and Ashley, you know. Um the barrier makes sense, isn't it? Well, and so that's I did a bunch of research on the entire block. So it used to be a church, the Lake City Playhouse was a church and it was a compound. So all those old houses they weren't all there. That's why there's newers ho newer houses, but there were a few older houses, and like the pastor lived in one, like the people that like settled in that area all lived kind of on this compound. And the church was obviously the church, but the playhouse was ranked number five. Um, I think it was number five or in the top five. It might be number one now as the most haunted. And I read the article after I'd already lived in the first house before I moved into the second house. Um, because I I saw that ghost, that bride ghost, and I was like, what the hell is that? I need to know, like, what's going on here? And everybody says the same thing with that work in the playhouse that do plays there, they all say the same thing. They see a bride. And I was not aware of that when I saw her, and I found it out later.
SPEAKER_02I'm wondering if she showed up to you because of your recent like split between you and your ex-boyfriend.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because I think the speculation was she was killed on her wedding day. I I think it was by the groom.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god. Yeah. So I wonder if she felt some sort of like maybe kinship that a single woman was near.
SPEAKER_00That's what I felt too. I felt like she was coming to me like help me kind of thing. And I'm like, like I didn't know anything about the playhouse, I didn't know anything about the block at all when I when I first saw that. And then I found this out before I moved in to the Wallace house, but I thought there's no way this is gonna happen in both houses. I know it was like much worse in the second house.
SPEAKER_02So yeah, well, I guess they still pay attention to parcel lines.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely don't. And I do think that the Wallace House was probably one of the more original houses there when the compound was still there compared to the house I house sat in that was new. So it was like almost every other house was new, and then it was old, old house, and then a new house and an old house. So they were like kind of all on this one block around the playhouse.
SPEAKER_01And then it's also funny, the Lake City Playhouse has been known to leave a ghost light on on the stage, specifically for the ghost to like appease the spirits that are in the Lakes Playhouse. Interesting. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02We're gonna wrap this episode up. We're coming back for part two next week. Brittany, we do a fun little thing at the end of every episode where we pretend that if like when we die, we go to heaven, we get to do whatever we want. So um, I'll give you time to think about yours if you need. I will tell you the first thing that I will do when I die is I am gonna come back and haunt my children. Oh god. They have tormented me for the last five years. I'm gonna be the child ghost so that I'm gonna like throw things. I want to make noises at all hours of the day. I mean, they're just gonna throw things back at you and make noises back at you. Well, no, I feel like they'll be they'll hopefully they're hopefully they'll be older. Um, and I will just be that I will leave messes everywhere. I'll get things out and then just leave them on the floor. Um, and they'll be like, where the fuck did this come from? I've picked up this house four times a day. Oh, I would hide their shit. Yeah. And then I'll I'll I'll like headbutt them, punch them, kick them, then bite them, because that's what they do to me. Oh my gosh. Fair enough. And I will love every moment of it.
SPEAKER_01So the first thing that I would do when I die is actually go haunt this bitch that I used to be friends with who stole my favorite sweatshirt. It was my softball sweatshirt from high school that had like my last name on it and stuff, and she stole it, and then we stopped talking. And I swear to God, I think about that sweatshirt. It's been like 20-something years, and I still think about that sweatshirt, and I'm gonna go haunt that bitch, and I'm gonna get that sweatshirt back. Like she probably has it now. Why? Like, I'm sure she destroyed it when we weren't friends anymore. But I'm still gonna go haunt her and I'm gonna like fuck up her closet and I'm gonna find out what her favorite thing is to wear, and I'm gonna take it.
SPEAKER_02I can see you. She's like peacefully sleeping, and you lean down here like, where's my fucking sweatshirt? Oh, for sure. She's gonna be like, weirdest dream last night. I'm gonna do it to her tonight. She probably just borrowed it and forgot to give it, but she's like, I forgot to give that back to her. Well, we didn't end care. It's a softball sweatshirt.
SPEAKER_01Like, we didn't end the friendship on a good note. So, and she was like malicious. So I feel like she totally like put that sweatshirt through a sh a shredder or something. Like, she destroyed that sweatshirt. I know it. I know it. She was a she was not a good person. Um, so I'm gonna be not a good person back to her, and I'm gonna torment her for a week or two.
SPEAKER_00First thing I'm going to go find my cat. Um, yeah, get my cat.
SPEAKER_02Okay, but that was actually the very first, the very first episode. She goes, she said, I didn't find rooster. I'm trying to be alone. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Or you found mom. Something else. I know. And that's my dad's dead. My great one's dead, and I'm like, or isn't they can like no? I need my cat. I need her to see if she's okay. Um, which she exactly what actually said. She said, I just need to make sure my baby's okay. And I said, She's probably with mom. I know that's what I'm thinking too. My cat is definitely with my grandma for sure. Um I would do that, and then I probably go to like whatever kind of library they have in heaven where it has all the answers to all the questions that we don't know. I need to know who killed John Bonnet.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god. Yeah, we literally said that.
SPEAKER_00I thought these were the original answers we were getting, but I I think all the same kind of person. I mean 9-11 was an inside job. Like, yeah, there's so many things I I'm just gonna go read for a while. And then I don't know. I don't really know what I would do next. Um, you have to have another one for the next episode. Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_02I'll think this is uh yeah, one of mine was I have to know who killed John Benari. Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_00That's every time I think about dying, I'm like, okay, I I'll know that. So maybe it's not all bad. Um and then the uh Elisa Lamb case from the Yes. Yeah, Plaza. I there's so many that I would just want to go to the library and read about all the conspiracy theories and like find out the truth about all of them.
SPEAKER_02If I were to die today, I would go back in time and figure out for everyone that killed those kids in Lindsay Clinton. Oh, absolutely. Shit. Best my pot diabolical, man. That is crazy. I don't understand men who take out their entire family to be with another woman just leave. Right. It's best need to kill us all.
SPEAKER_00It's just crazy. Like it's diabolical. I just I hope that we find out the truth. I mean, the Bratskall video. Girl, yeah, I was gonna say that with the the blood under the under the leg the leg of the nightstand. Yeah, that is that's not an accident.
SPEAKER_02That is a reasonable doubt. You have to move beyond a reasonable doubt. That right there was two drops of blood, or my reasonable doubt.
SPEAKER_00There's no there's and then also the fact that what did she confess like one time when she was already in ICU, like drugged up and like out of her mind and injured, and she said it one time and it was to one person, and they're taking that as like the gospel. It's just like I don't know. And every nurse I see, every doctor I see is like, there is no way that her body got that cold that fast.
SPEAKER_02No, okay, not only that, but um, what nurse is Googling carotid artery? And also what nurse, if she wants to kill herself, doesn't just slice open her leg and you will bleed out in seconds. Exactly. It's you're gonna split your wrist the wrong way and then slit your throat and then throw yourself out a window. Yeah, yeah, you did all that other stuff.
SPEAKER_01Even though you have like all of this medication at your disposal, she didn't just why wouldn't she just take a handful of all of the medications that she has and just go to sleep?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Right. Well, she's like when she knows what would have done it.
SPEAKER_00I guess it's a really important conversation to have with like your family. And I love to bring it up at like family dinners, like when we're driving. And I'm like, if you killed yourself, how would you do it? And because it makes it really awkward, but it is good to know how everyone in your family, like if they were gonna do it. So that way if it ever happens, you're like, they would never do it, they already said how they would do it, and this is not how they would do it.
SPEAKER_02I told my sister, I texted her one day and I said, I just need you to know that if I die and they say it was suicide, that I would never ever leave my babies. Yeah, like I've been in this, I had post farm depression, it was awful, been in a spot where I did not want to be here. And like I I need you to save this text. And if I am found dead, and they say it's suicide, you need to show them this text that says I would never ever leave my babies. Like 100% disappear. Yeah, yeah, I would never leave my kids.
SPEAKER_01And see, I've told Simone, like, I feel like if if somebody killed me and made it look like a suicide, people are just gonna take that as gospel because of my mental health issues. So you need to like fight for me to show that it wasn't suicide just in case it wasn't.
SPEAKER_00It's strange, and he moved on awfully quick.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. Your three children were murdered and you're on vacation weeks later. Yeah. I'm sorry. My kid had surgery, yeah, a successful, well-proven surgery, and I was not functioning for months. Yeah. So you are not vacationing after three of your children were murdered. Like that's not happening. And then I think also a really big conversation for people to have when someone in their life has a baby, no matter what number baby that is, is like, How are you doing? How are you feeling? Do you because my husband and I were talking about this this morning, and I said, if I was in postpartum psychosis, you would go to my psych nurse and you would say, She's not okay. You have like, and he would be like, We need to admit her.
SPEAKER_01Like, well, if he did do that after you had your second, he said, I feel like she's going into postpartum depression.
SPEAKER_02Like, what can you scheduled me an appointment with my psych nurse? Yes, because he was like, She's not doing well and she and he made me go. So that it's like having those conversations with moms who just had babies because if you've never had a baby, you were afterwards, you were literally out of your mind. Like, think of the worst PMS times a thousand. Like crying one minute, happy the next, mad the next. Like it's not you're not in control of your body or your mind at all. And so like awful. She deserved better from the system, and she deserved better from a support system. It's truly insane. I just I feel so bad for her. Um, by the time this comes out though, well, hopefully something will be something will happen because this comes out in like five weeks. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So we'll see.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Okay, gosh. Take it away.
