Special guest, Brittiany Karlson, retells her true haunted story of one of the oldest neighborhoods in our hometown. She also tells a delightful tale of meeting Ashleigh's husband for the first time and how our dad was her savior after Ashleigh couldn't be bothered to carry her own beer to the beach. Brides, churches, and compounds can't be that bad, right?

Welcome back to Terrible Tuesome Tuesday, where two sisters tell you a haunted story and every tale comes with a side of family drama. I'm Ashley. I'm Simone, and today's episode is Wallace House Part 2.
SPEAKER_01Welcome back to part two.
SPEAKER_02I think this one will be a little more ghostly. Brittany is back with us for part two because she was involved in part two as well. So maybe it's Britney bringing the ghosts. I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Maybe.
SPEAKER_01The third house in a row was haunted. So Britney, I think, is a common denominator.
SPEAKER_02Actually, now that you mention it, it's a little freaky. Uh so we're gonna get right into it because it is a little bit of a long one. Not too bad though. We found this house. These two girls and I were gonna move in together, and we found this house, and it happened to be owned by a guy that I knew who owned the gym that I went to. And so he was like more than happy. A guy you knew. No, I only knew him. He was married, so shut the hell up. Oh, okay. So he um he was more than happy to rent to us, and we were excited that we like knew him and liked him, and we weren't gonna be stuck with some weirdo landlord.
SPEAKER_01Did you drink my water?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I did drink your water. I'm sorry. The three of us moved in in January, and I was the first one to move in. And then Candy and Lacey moved in the next day. So I knew that they were bringing three cats with them, but I wasn't sure when they were bringing the cats. So the first night that I'm there, I'm alone in my bedroom, which is upstairs on the main floor and directly across from the bathroom. And then there's a linen closet to the right of my bedroom at the end of this like short hallway. So while I'm unpacking, I hear a crash in the kitchen and I go out to investigate, but there's nothing. There's no dishes, boxes, counter appliances. It's totally empty aside from like the oven and stove and the like counter and the fridge. So there's nothing in there. So this keeps going on through the night, but I just keep ignoring it, telling myself that like maybe Candy and Lacey had dropped off the cats earlier, and that's what I was hearing. It doesn't take me long that first night to realize that I am really uneasy in this house. And the only place I feel remotely comfortable in is in my bedroom. But even that I'm still kind of like uneasy about. So within a few days of living there, Candy and I fall severely depressed. And Candy and Lacey, who were sisters, are fighting constantly. And that's like not something that they really did. They always got along really well. Um, and then Candy and I also both get sick with some kind of like respiratory illness that we can't get rid of, no matter how many like Z packs we take, how many doctors we see, like we are stuck with this weird respiratory illness that just won't go away. Immediately, there are places that we're already avoiding. We're avoiding the living room downstairs in the basement, the dining room, for the most part, the living room upstairs. Like we'd never hung out in there. If we were all hanging out together, we were in my bedroom. So we never, not even once, use the downstairs living room or the dining room. Like they just both give off like this really eerie, creepy feeling. Did you even have a table in the dining room? We did have a table in the dining room. I think it was Lacey's or Candy's, but we never used it, not even one time. Like, I don't even think we like cut across coming from the kitchen to go to the front door. I don't think we ever even like crossed the dining room to like a shortcut. Like it was just like a block or something that was in there. Several occasions when I'm in my room alone, I hear what sounds like kids running down the hallway giggling and saying, hurry, she's coming. And so I like I hear it so often that I usually ignore it because I can't like wrap my head around what's happening. Like there's no reason for this. So I just keep like ignoring it. Again, this house is like kitty corner to the Lake City Playhouse that we talked about in our last episode. Literally, like a one-minute walk from our back door to the Lake City Playhouse, if even that. So the first week that we move in there, my uncle Steve dies unexpectedly. My mom's okay, our our Uncle Steve and our mom. Um, she is 11 months older than our Uncle Steve, and she like never really recovers this. So, like I invite her out to do all kinds of stuff, and like she's constantly skipping invites for us to like hang out together and just like saying she doesn't feel well. A few things to note that happened like really consistently. I adopted one of the three cats from Candy and Lacey. And it was weird because one of the cats was constantly punk. He talked all the time, like he never shut up to the point where I would like kick him out of my room because I would be like, just shut the fuck up. Like it never ended. But Rooster, my cat that I adopted from them, would never talk. Like, I think I heard her meow one time that in the whole time that I lived in this house. And right off the bat, like that night that I see her and I fall in love with her and I say, Katie, can I keep her? Because they were gonna get rid of her. Funny, funny enough, they said they were getting rid of her because she was too malvey and they couldn't stand it. And we move into this house and she just never talks. She instantly like takes to me, sleeps in my room every night. She like instantly knows that she belongs to me.
SPEAKER_01She was a very talkative cat.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, she talked all the time when I moved out to take care of mom while she was sick.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and she was like um mom colberry rocket. Yeah. She would just like zoom everywhere. And she never did that in that house.
SPEAKER_02But every night, like clockwork, she would lay on my chest and look up in the southern corner of the room, and I would like do this thing over her face where I would be like, stop it, stop it, stop it. And that would never break her from looking in the corner of the room. She just it and she would just stare forever. And I would finally like fall asleep going, I don't know, whatever the hell you're looking at. Like, you do you, boo. That's that's on you. I'm not, I don't know what that is. Um, another thing to note was that like the electronics, like the TV, the DVD player, all the radio, all that stuff was in the living room and it never, ever fucking worked right. Like it would be on when it wasn't supposed to be on, it wouldn't turn on when we wanted it to be on. I think Britney and I were able to like watch two movies the whole time we lived together in that house because it just the electronics never fucking worked right. And it just like drove me crazy because it was like, it's plugged in, it's plugged in right. How come it worked yesterday? How come it doesn't work today? But so that was another thing that I that was weird. And that was kind of like something that kept me out of the living room a lot because it just it the living room seemed really dark. And there's I put pictures on our Instagram of the inside of the house, and you'll notice that the living room and the kitchen, which are both right off the dining room, have like big black masses in the corners of the pictures, but the rest of the pictures that I found online of this house don't have that. So that's just something that I noticed when I put those pictures up on Instagram. I do remember an instance where like my brand new DVD player in my bedroom stopped working, and then months later it all of a sudden turned on and started playing the DVD that was stuck in there. That's weird. So that was always that was something that was weird. We would lose light bulbs nonstop, which like we could attest to like it being an old house, but it definitely seemed like we were losing more than we should constantly. I also think it's funny to note that like we had the three cats and they always like congregated in my bedroom. Like they felt, I don't, I it almost felt like they were like, this is the only place we can get some like reprieve from whatever is happening out there in the living room and downstairs in the basement. Another thing that I always found inter interesting was that like even in the middle of summer when it's sweltering hot outside, the house is freezing. And we it was built in 1930. There was no air conditioning, it was just freezing all the time. Even though I had like heard the little boys running down what I consider to be little boys running down the hallway saying, Hurry, she's coming. Like that was the most that I had heard until Mardi Gras. It was me, Candy Lacey, and um this chick, Corey. And Corey was gonna drive us downtown to the bars. We all get ready, we turn off all the lights in the house. I'm the last person to leave. And I go to shut the door, and clear as day, like she was standing right next to me. I hear a woman say, Wait, and I turn and look, and like in my mind's eye, I see a woman who's dressed, she's wearing like older style clothing, and she's like crouched in the corner with her arm out, asking me not to leave her. And I look back at the car to see, like, oh, maybe it was like Candy or Lacey. And I look back and they're all at the car waiting. So I basically like that, I just I remember telling her, like, I can't help you. And I shut the door and like ran down to the car because I was like not like I was ready to like party, not talk to this woman who appeared out of nowhere. That one like always sticks with me because that woman, I always felt like she was around all the time, but that was the only time that she like made herself really known to me. Well, Yashbah didn't come back because you're like, bitch, I don't have time for this.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, probably. Poor lady. She was like, This fucking, you're not girls, girl. If she wouldn't have let her, I would have said, Come on, girl, let's go.
SPEAKER_02We're going to the bar. One weeknight, Candy and I are at a bar, and Lacey is a bartender there. This is where we later met Britney, but that's later, that comes later. So Lacey is bartending and we have a few drinks, but we leave early, and Candy and I both go to bed before 10 o'clock. So the next morning, Candy and I are sitting on the porch when Lacey comes out and says, That was really funny, guys. And Candy and I are like, What the fuck are you talking about? And she goes, I heard you last night. And we're kind of like, We were in bed before you ever got home. Like you came home at two or three in the morning. We were in bed by 10. You didn't hear us doing anything. And she's like, Yeah, I heard you last night running down the hallway saying, Hurry, she's coming. And I instantly was like, that wasn't me. That was like the spirits that are in the house because I had heard it so many times at this point. And I was like, I felt validated that somebody else had heard it. And she was like, Don't fucking talk about it. If you talk about ghosts being in this house, I will move out. Like, don't say anything else about it. And I was like, okay, I'm just telling you, like, that was not me and Candy. That spring, my great uncle passes away and my parents have to put my dog down. So now at this point, like I've experienced three kind of like traumatic things happen to me since I've moved into this house. And I think it's noteworthy to say that, like, I had never really experienced a death in my life, uh, except when I was like seven years old and my grandpa died. So for these like three deaths to happen like back to back to back, I remember thinking to myself, like, this house is ruining my life. But I like, what the fuck am I like? I'm living there, I'm on a lease, and like I can't just like up and leave. So another night, we all had gone out and Corey decided to stay the night and she was sleeping in my bed with me. And at three o'clock on the dot, we both wake up to a loud crash. So this crash is so loud that it's almost as if there's a car accident right outside my bedroom window. We look outside and around the room, we don't see anything out of the ordinary, so we just go back to sleep. So Corey goes right to sleep instantly, but I'm like wide awake after that because I I'm like, I know I fucking heard something, but there's nothing to show that like something happened. The next morning in the light of day, I realized that one of my paintings was missing off of my wall, but the nail that held it up was still in the wall, sticking out a little less than like a half inch. So I go looking for the painting, I can't find it, and I'm like, who the fuck took my painting? Like, why would somebody take that? I for some reason like look behind the bed between the wall and the bed, and it's fucking behind my bed. So it fell off the wall, hit the ground, and then this square object somehow rolled behind my bed and it hit carpets and it still like made a cra a loud enough crash that I thought, like for sure it was like a car accident outside of the bedroom window. So there was like no reasonable explanation as to like what made the noise and how the painting like rolled back, rolled on its corners. Yeah. Throughout all this activity, like the children's voices, like it's so normal now that I like hardly even notice it. But I start feeling like they're somehow related to the woman that asked me to wait. And I get this sensation that one of them is her son, and the other one is like just a friend who was over, like came over for the day or something. And like one is bigger than the other. So I don't know if that means that like one of them is older, if that's like how I'm interpreting it, or he's like the leader of the two of them. But the one little boy doesn't belong there. He just seems like he's just visiting for the day or something, but he kind of like is essentially collateral damage in whatever happened to the three of them in that house that caused them to be like residual energy staying there. I also sense that the woman is like running from someone and that they normally hide in the basement. But when the woman is like out, the two little boys come up the stairs, and when they see that she's coming back, they run from my bedroom, down the hallway, through the living room and kitchen, and back down the stairs while whispering, like Burishi's coming, and like it's a game to them. But like for her, it's like life or death. She's terrified, she's hiding from somebody, but these little boys are like, Mom's gone, let's go upstairs. But like the sensation that I had from her was definitely a sense of fear. I feel like the with the sense that I got was like this was like the one time that she had let her little boy have a friend over, and then somehow on this property or in this house, they get killed. I feel like they were, I don't know. I feel like they were there maybe on the compound from the Lake City Playhouse. I don't know, but I feel like they were there a really long time. I also had the sensation that they were burned in that they died in a fire, but I that I can't like find any record for of a fire in that area at any time.
SPEAKER_01Why do you get that sensation?
SPEAKER_02I don't know. I just like had this feeling that that like whoever was looking for them found them and killed them in a fire. But like I said, that was just a feeling I had. I never like was able to find any concrete evidence of that. While all this is going on, I know that they're like I sense another entity, but he doesn't present himself to me. He doesn't like make himself known at any time aside from being in the corner of my bedroom and getting rooster's attention. So that's like I I felt like it was like a orange, like glowy globe or something in the corner of the room. That's like how I pictured him. But um I do know, like I do sense that he's like not a good spirit, but I can never figure out if he is associated with the woman, with the woman and the kids, or if he's like a residual spirit that's like off on his own, has nothing to do with them. And I don't know that either like the woman and the kids and the man, I don't think that they knew each other were there. That's kind of how I felt about it. So that summer, Brittany moves in. She moved in in June. And so, like right away, Brittany, she moved into like this little itty-bitty tiny bedroom, which by the way, I think they like tore the walls down and just made it part of the living room that's down in the basement. Because when I was looking at pictures online, I couldn't find that bedroom. But so this is when Britney moves in. It's the summer, it's June. Like we're all partying, we're all having a blast, but we're still like definitely something is going on in this house. So, what was the first thing that you noticed when you moved in?
SPEAKER_00So for me, um almost right away, I got a feeling that from that house that something wasn't right, right there. I just had a feeling that something was sort of nefarious. I don't know how to explain it. I just was like, it just gave me like really bad vibes, but the people in it were you guys, and I was like, but uh they're fun, so it'll be okay. Like I just was like, this will be honestly like the first experiences I had were definitely hearing voices and hearing my name called a lot. Oh your name? Yeah, I would hear my me. Yeah, but they would they would I would hear Brittany echoes. Yeah, and I would think it was actually calling me from upstairs, and I would go all the way upstairs and she'd be like, I did not say your name. Or I would think, you know, it was somebody outside. So I'd open the door and be like, Is there someone here? Like, how who's here yelling my name? A big thing that happened to me almost every single day that I lived there, because I lived when you go down the stairs, I lived right at the bottom of the stairs in a bedroom. And it felt like there was something on both sides of me pushing past me or like with me. And it was tell it like I could hear it sometimes say hurry, hurry, hurry, and like push me into the room. And so I I felt like it was a children because it only felt like it was going about like halfway up my body. Um, but they would both like push on each side and like tell me to hurry up and get down the stairs.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So like you could feel them, like when you went down the stairs, you could feel like something brush past you almost every yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So and um I guess that gives credence to like what Ashley was saying, like almost they thought they weren't allowed upstairs. Yeah. And I panic to get downstairs.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and I felt like because I was the youngest in the house, and I also had the room that I believe that the the two boys like it was their room. I felt like they treated me like I was almost like the kid. And so they were telling me to come to the room and go to the room. Yeah, like this is we we gotta go, we gotta go. Like they were constantly getting me to go to my room. My room didn't feel evil, but it it felt like something was there. But the rest of the house, like to me, felt evil, except Ashley's room and my room. Like my room felt like child, like childlike in that room. It felt like there was child presence the whole time that I lived there. But it overall had a really dark vibe in the whole house. But my room felt light as far as like yeah, there were kids, there were kids around.
SPEAKER_02Your your room definitely felt lighter than the rest of the house because like even that living room area, like I would get the chills every single time I would have to go down there and do laundry, like stay in that little laundry area the best that I could. And then like the other room that Lacey lived in, that room, like there was definitely something like this there because it was so like I couldn't stand to be in that room. It was so awful.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think I only went in that room one time. Yeah, so I would hear like full-blown conversations. It sounded like your voices, and that's what really like freaked me out. I think was that it sounded like everyone's own voice, but you guys were not there or you were like asleep or you know, whatever. The dining room was a big one. I never ever ever felt comfortable like even walking through it. It just really gave me bad vibes. I know you already said this, but when I moved in there within like two weeks, I started feeling extremely depressed. And I don't think I'd ever really been depressed in my life. I just felt like something was going like wrong. Like my life just kind of started like falling apart a little bit. Like that's when I got in trouble. And I was just in a I just felt like this really dark place. And I just felt like I couldn't get myself out of it no matter what I did. Like I was just extremely depressed as soon as I moved in. Um, the electrical stuff, yeah. Like my computer would turn off and on all the time. My my lights would like flip on and off. I would hear what I thought people were like cooking in the kitchen, and I'd go up there and there'd be nobody there. It was just like banging around in the kitchen, and I thought it was like, okay, maybe it's the cats. Like I just kept trying to find out excuses in my head, but it happened a lot, especially like when I was in that basement room, is when I would hear everything. So that's why I spent like a lot of time outside when I was there. Like I was always hanging out outside because it just felt safer almost.
SPEAKER_02Right. It definitely like I feel like we still. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And I'll say too, like, I know this is you already know this, but like I was the youngest and you guys didn't know me as well as you knew each other. But I felt like I was being blamed for a lot of things um in the house because you guys just didn't know me. And I I understand that like now, but back then I was like, you know, I was like, what the heck are you guys talking about? Because you guys would say, like, were you smoking in here? Or did you open the fridge and leave it open? Or did you do this? And like, because I was new, I was a new roommate. And so I was constantly like being blamed for stuff I didn't do. And I just thought, okay, well, maybe it's just that somebody came home drunk and they did it, and like they're just assuming it's me. But now looking back, like I think we know that it was never me, but I was kind of always like the scapegoat because it was the easiest explanation to be like, oh, the new girl like doesn't respect the house, or you know what I mean? It was definitely a lot of stuff like that.
SPEAKER_02It was like, well, Lacey and I have never done that before, so why all of a sudden is it happening now? But I remember you telling me just a few weeks ago about how like we kept accusing you of smoking inside, and we were like, We don't smoke inside, and you're like, Yeah, neither do I. And we were like, Okay, whatever. And then, like, we were in the living room and smelled cigarette smoke, and nobody was smoking.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was like I felt vindicated because like Lacey, I remember she flipped out on me because you always came to me like very gently about it, but she was really pissed about it, and she was like, We don't have a motherly figure, it's just like me. She definitely treated me like a baby, and she's like, Don't smoke inside. And I'm like, Okay, but Lacey came at me like inside a cigarette, right? But I am totally not that person, like, I don't like the smell of like cigarette smoke being on stuff. I don't like that, so it was it. I would never do that, even if other people were doing it in the house, I wouldn't feel super comfortable doing it. But Lacey like flipped out on me about it one night, and I'm just like, I am not doing it. Like, I swear I'm not doing it. It's interesting that it kind of started happening when I came in, but it a lot of things started happening when I came into that house that I think it just it just kind of got a little bit stronger. I don't know.
SPEAKER_02It like amplified it a little bit for some reason.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's what I was gonna say. Is I think like my theory on what was going on in the house, it's similar to Ashley's, but I think there's a couple differences. I felt like that, because I had done the research previously based off of the house next door. And so I kind of knew like a little bit about what was going on on that block. So I felt like the man that was in that house was the evil spirit, and he was the one who he felt like like the pastor to me, or somebody who was very important in the church. Like he felt like he had some authority over people. And yeah, to me, it seemed like he was abusive towards the wife who felt like she wasn't necessarily a bad spirit, but she wasn't like a great spirit either. It was kind of like she was just kind of passive. And then the two children, which I felt like were two little boys, and like I said, I don't like Ashley said she doesn't know if they were related or not. I felt like they both lived in that room, but they could have been cousins. Like, I don't know if they I don't know, but I felt like they lived if they both lived in my room. But I felt I felt like the dad basically had really strict control over the mother and the two children. And so when he would come home, he was the kids had to run to their room. And that's why I was always like pushed down the stairs by them because it was like, you need to go, you need to hide, basically, from this dad. And I felt like the mom was like abused, almost felt like they were telling me to come with them too. It was like, let's go, let's go. But the mom, I felt like she was more like get away from him, is what it felt like. And the the mom felt more like she was like being abused, but she was felt like maybe she was an alcoholic or she had some sort of like her brain didn't work properly. I don't know how to explain that, but like it just felt like she wasn't all there, like cognitively when it like she just didn't seem like a good mother. She was not protective of her children, and I think she was coping with whatever was going on with the dad. And so I think she was like more of a chaotic presence in the house because to me, I thought like the the slamming of the the doors and stuff like that. It felt like that was more her, and the dad was the one doing like the electrical stuff and just the overall depression and everybody's lives kind of going to shit when they moved in, kind of feelings. So that's like my theory on it.
SPEAKER_02I definitely think he was the one that was like causing us to feel depressed. I definitely like he was the worst of all of them. And what it's funny that you say that about the woman like not cognitively being there, because it felt like she was, like you said, like passive and like she wanted to protect her kids, but she wasn't going to protect them against whatever what she was like running from or from this, like this male entity or this male energy that like it felt like she was like, I'll protect them as much as I can, but like I I'm afraid of him too. So you guys are on your own. So that's what it felt like to me.
SPEAKER_01Do you think that they were ghosts, or do you think this was like residual energy?
SPEAKER_02The boys I felt like were residual energy, but the woman was I think an intelligent spirit.
SPEAKER_01Like she knew like she could manipulate things and yeah, absolutely with the dude.
SPEAKER_00I think that the woman, yeah, she was like, like I said, I think she was messed up too. So that's why like when she did stuff, it like just doesn't make any sense. I feel like she had like a drinking problem or like was on pill, like something, or she was just crazy herself. It just felt like she was causing a lot of the chaotic energy in the house, like a lot of the weird things were kind of her doing, and his doing was more of like the evil things for sure.
SPEAKER_02It's interesting that we talked about the cigarette smell. Yeah, because later I got vindicated. Not vindicated later that summer. My cousin Kayleen comes to visit and she's super highly sensitive and can usually usually determine like what's happening quickly, whereas like I don't pick up on things as fast. I didn't tell Kayleen anything about what was happening in the house, but she like picked up on everything and she confirmed all of my suspicions about like the woman and the children and that one is bigger than the other. And then she tells me because and I knew that there was like a man's spirit there, but I didn't like know anything more than the fact that he like stayed in the corner of my bedroom. But she was like, No, he stands in the dining room almost all day smoking cigarettes, and he said he's not funny, and she meant like he's bad, he's like not a good spirit, and she was like, he messes with things all the time. He was the one that knocked the painting off the wall, according to Kayleen. And then she said that he appears as an orange-yellow glowing orb in the corner of my room, which was what I felt, and then he and that he watches whoever is in that room all the time. The smoking in the dining room, I was like, oh my god, it really wasn't Brittany. Like, no, holy shit.
SPEAKER_00Well, and I smelled it too. And so when you guys kept saying it, I'm like, but I literally was at work all night and it smelled like that when I'm walking in. So how could it be me? Like, because I smelled it, you know, but yeah, it wasn't me.
SPEAKER_02And I feel like he so this was another thing. I feel like he manipulated people in the house to like always be two against one. Yeah, it was heated. There's always, always two against one, no matter who lived there. And I feel like he was trying to get it to be like me and Lacey against you because the cigarette smoke didn't start until you moved in. But like, jokes on you, motherfucker. That's not how it happened. Right.
SPEAKER_00No, and I feel like it was also his manipulation was the voicing, like the voices and the things that like were being said, like my name being called. It I felt like it was like to drive me a little bit like crazy because I was feeling a little bit depressed anyway. But like having to go upstairs because I would hear you guys like your voices saying things, and I would think you were gonna be talking about me. It was just like the weirdest stuff that never happened to me.
SPEAKER_01It almost sounds like he like he was making you think they're talking about you. Yeah, exactly. Well shit at Virginia George and right for real.
SPEAKER_00And yeah, I would think they were talking about me or like they were doing something without me. It just felt like I was like being like left out or blamed for things, and I just was like, I would go upstairs because I would hear them like talking and there would be nobody there. And I'm like, what the hell? Like, why I swear I heard voices and nobody would be home. So and I I will say too, like, I know when Ashley moved out and we had we had a third or like a male roommate movement for the first time. And he moved into Ashley's room and he didn't does not believe in ghosts. He flat out told me that because before he moved in, I told him, Hey, you need to like watch out because this house is something is going on in this house, and I just want you to be aware before you move in. And he moved in and he's like, I don't believe in him anyway, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And a few weeks into him living there, he got in a lot of trouble too. His life started taking a downward spiral. He started getting depressed. But one day I asked him, I said, Have you seen or heard anything weird? And he just looks at me and he says, It's in the corner.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And actually, I remember going over there. I remember going over.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I was over there for New Year's Eve so we could all get ready together. And I went in his room, which was my old room, to get dressed, and I just felt like somebody is in this room watching me right now. And I got out of there as soon as I could. And I remember thinking, like, how did I live there that long with like how did I how did I just like ignore that feeling every day for that long?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And I know like almost everyone, that's the pattern was like everyone who would move in within two or three weeks of moving in there, something really terrible would happen to them. Like, yeah, really terrible. And and then it just seemed like they got stuck in this really bad place, like the whole time they lived there. And it wasn't until they moved out where things started actually turning around for them. And that was with every single person who lived in that house. Like it was like you could mark it almost like three weeks to a month, something awful would happen to them, and it would just continue to spiral downward until they left the house.
SPEAKER_02So it was like this nine days. Yeah, nine days after moving in. My uncle Steve died.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I got in trouble. I got arrested, which thank you, Dan, for bailing out. But I got arrested like within a month of living there. And then, you know, of course that makes you depressed. You made a mistake, and now you have you're in trouble, and you know, your future is in question, and things just kept going wrong with me over the you know, over and over again. And then we saw the same thing with Lacey, and we saw the same thing with Corey and you know, everybody. And Brandon, same thing with him, like him living there. It was like he got in a lot of trouble almost immediately. Yeah, and his life really spiral out of control. I'm pretty sure he found out he was having another baby.
SPEAKER_02Like I'm pretty sure he was living there when he found that out too. So, why do you get into some of the history? So I met my husband in this house, as Britney knows. Yeah, Brittany knew him before I did. I don't know if you want to tell that story or not.
SPEAKER_00If you guys I don't have a problem telling it, it's just if you guys want to hear it.
SPEAKER_02Um I think it's funny.
SPEAKER_00So before I lived with, well, back when I was 17, actually, I moved out, I moved out of my parents' house, so I think when I was 16, and then I had gotten my first apartment with a roommate when I was 17, and it was a duplex. And the upstairs neighbors were drug dealers, just weed guys. It's nothing it back then. You had to have a had to have a plug for weed, okay? So they sold pot, and then my roommate also sold pot. Oh, it sounds so bad, but it, you know, back then that's just how it was. And yeah, so they got into some argument, I think, over something to do with their customers, not be, I don't know. There was some overlap, they stole customers from one another. I don't remember. But I'm over here a 17-year-old girl. Like, yeah, I smoked a little pot, but like I was pretty innocent. I remember my roommate telling me I called backup, you need to leave. And then I was like, what are you talking about? So I go stand on the front porch, and all of a sudden, probably 15 cars pull up, and people from both sides of the the weed battle, okay, the upstairs neighbors, and my my roommates, they're both looking, they're like quote unquote gangs. I don't know what else you'd call them, get out and they all just start brawling, like punching each other. I'm seeing weeds pulled out, like people are just beating the shit out of each other in my front yard. And I'm standing on the porch because I'm the only neutral person like in this entire situation. I'm just like in shock because I'm like, someone's getting yeah, and I'm like, why this is over weed? Like, what is going on? And then this dude comes up and he has a sawdog shotgun. And he comes, stands next to me on the porch, and he just looks at me and he goes, What's up? And I'm like, uh, nothing. Like, what's up with you? And he had a southern accent, and I was like, What are you doing in North Idaho? Like, okay. And I was, I just stood there and he's like, Nothing's bad's gonna happen to you. You're fine. And I was like, Okay, like I'm a child. I don't know. And then all of a sudden, we hear heard sirens, and he just said, He looks at me and he goes, All right, have a good day, and his southern accent. And he gets in a car and everyone gets back in their cars, and within like two seconds, everyone's gone. And that person with the sod off shotgun is Philip, who actually married.
SPEAKER_01I think that's why I love this story. First of all, shit is going down and Phil with his shot off shotgun, like sod off shotgun, like of course he has one of those, is calm on the porch, like yeah, it's cool. Don't worry about it.
SPEAKER_00It's cool. Don't worry, just here in case anyone pops off. Like, I will take care of it.
SPEAKER_01And I'm like, he also goes to the youngest person and is like, you're safe. Um, because of that is Philip, like shit's going down. Phil's in his this is his stage. He's like, This is where I find and I'm calm. But then I swear to God, Ash, if you don't put those dishes away the way I want, I'm gonna freak the fuck out. It's I love that story. I never knew that story. That's hilarious.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's and I didn't realize it either. Him and I just like were talking. This was like right when him and Ashley started dating, and then I I think I brought up the story, and he goes, Wait, did you live on such and such road? And was this between this person and that person? And I said, Yeah, he goes, Oh, already met you. I was the guy with the saw-off shotgun. And I'm like, Oh, it all makes sense now.
SPEAKER_02And yeah, I remember being there for that conversation, and I was like, Holy shit! And he married his ass, but no, yeah.
SPEAKER_00We haven't heard the qualities, yeah. It was just super funny.
SPEAKER_02He doesn't have a sod off shotgun anymore. I just want everybody to know that. And he doesn't like roll around in a gang either. So I want to talk a little bit about like what Phil and I found after I moved out. Yeah. So this house like stayed with me. Like, I could not get the things that happened out of my mind. And and like Phil wasn't like a believer, but he was like, there's definitely something wrong with that house. We went to the library to like research what like anything that had to do with that house. And so what we found, so it was built in 1930, and from then until like the 50s, it had fairly steady ownership. And then in the 50s, one woman owned it for 11 years. But then after that, the house is bought and sold every one to two years with several years of vacancy or no owner in between each, which is strange because normally someone owns the property, even if it's the bank, but for the for it to be listed as no owner. And then the longest someone had owned that home in recent years was our landlord. And he lived there one year, got married, moved into her house. And then after we all moved out of the house, he unfortunately committed suicide in that house in the same bedroom that I stayed in. And he had been there less than a year after his divorce. He like moved back in there and unfortunately killed himself. Rest in peace, Sam. That was just like super crazy to me. Like, it was like it was like this thing, this thing in the house still had a hold of people. And like, even though he didn't live in the house, his life fell apart also. Like, I remember he and his wife on the phone, and I could hear them arguing while he was he was like outside in the backyard. And I could hear them arguing about like money problems and marital problems. And it was like, so even though he didn't live in the house, just owning it, his life was still like falling apart. That broke my heart when I heard that he had died there. But then after we all moved out, since me, Lacey, and Candy were the original ones on the lease, we went back to do a walkthrough with Sam. We walk in, and there's a giant stain in the dining room. And we're all like caught off guard by this. We've never seen this stain before. Nobody ever goes in that dining room. We're like, Yeah, I don't know what that stain is from. Like, I we've never been in there, blah, blah, blah. Lacey makes a comment about that being weird, and Sam goes, Yeah, weird things happen in this house with this look on his face, like he knew all about things.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Also, another horrific thing that happened while I was living in that house was that my mom got cancer, andor our mom got cancer, and she ended up passing away a few months after I'd moved out. So it was like this house really just like took its toll on everybody that lived there. Every time I even like think of that house, it's so heavy and daunting. And like I used to drive by it because I was still so drawn to it for some reason. And I would instantly get like a clutching feeling in my stomach, and just like this awful, it would it was like the loneliest feeling you could possibly feel in your life for that like split second that you drove by the house. It was just horrible. And even when I was like looking at pictures to put on Instagram, I was like creeped out and I was like, I never want to fucking see this house ever again.
SPEAKER_00Like we're the opposite where I I can't even if if I even get close to that house, like anywhere near that house, I would go out of my way to never drive by it again. Like and I honestly don't think I could look at your Instagram right now and look at those pictures. Like, I don't, it just I can't get myself to even think about doing that.
SPEAKER_02I think the reason that I kept driving by that house and like what was pulling me back to that house, yeah. I think the the that the woman followed me. Yeah. And I I still think she's with me today. Like I still her, but it's not as much of a presence as it was because like for a few years after I moved out of that house, I just like could not get back to normal. And I felt her with me all the time. And I was always like, like, there's nothing I can do for you. I don't feel like she's with me all the time. I feel like she checks on me sometimes, but I do like feel her every once in a while, but not like I did after I moved out, where she was like nagging me in my ear constantly every day. You know, unfortunately, I think that she's still in that house, and I I feel like she's looking for somebody to help her cross over, but like I just wasn't, I didn't have the capacity to do that at that time.
SPEAKER_00I didn't do sorry, I was just gonna ask, do you like since you feel like she followed you, did you do you pick up on the same thing that I did with her like just being a little bit unstable? Yeah, like mentally, and maybe like substance abuse. Well, I don't know, just like we like a little off. Something's just not right.
SPEAKER_02It feels like she knows like I shouldn't be here with you, but I'm I'm just gonna like hang out anyway. And like she's almost like almost like childlike in this way where she's like, I don't really know where to go. I don't really know what I'm supposed to do. Like she just doesn't, it doesn't feel like she takes any accountability for like what's happening in her afterlife.
SPEAKER_00Okay. I feel like she's got some sort of personality disorder or something. Like something is just not normal in a, you know what I'm saying? I don't know how to explain it.
SPEAKER_02There's definitely something that's like naive about that. Or like childlike. Like there's something that's like like her body, when I like in my mind's eye, her body is full grown, but like her face suggests that like she's young, but like young that young in the fact that like mentally she's young. Not that she's like, not that she has like a disability, but like she just can't. I I hate this term, but she like can't adult.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. She can't like she's just not like not a high functioning person, but not like mentally disabled. It's almost like she was like cared for her whole life and didn't really have any responsibilities. But then it was like she kind of lost her mind, like between the abuse and like you know, the situation she found herself in, and like she just isn't all there. Like, I don't know. That's just the feeling I got from it. But she followed you, so you probably would know more.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I definitely like when I feel her, I feel like this almost, what do I do now? I'm just coming to check on you, but like it's a like a motherly checking on me, but like also at the same time, like a but I don't know what to do when I leave here. What do I where do I go? What do I do? Like, that's the sense that I get when I know that she's like with me. In on that note, the first thing that I would do when I die is go find Elizabeth and help lead her to the afterlife. Go rescue her. Yeah, yeah. Like I feel a little bit responsible. And then that guy in the nuts. Yeah. Tell him he can go to hell, literally. And then I you should give him a lecture on like this is not how we treat women. Don't go to hell and treat women like this. But you know what? His own personal hell is probably women treating him like that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's what I mean. So you have to go and you have to be like you have to do what that um sister did with in the Coburger sentencing where she said, I love that. Like so basic. Yeah, like tear him down. Yeah. That was the best victim impact statement I've been in my fucking life. I thought of a good one. What I'll do when I die is I would track down my uh forerunner. Oh, the forerunner.
SPEAKER_02Or she is Roberta. Brittany, what would you die? What would you do first thing you do when you die?
SPEAKER_00I'd probably I'm so weird. I'd probably like swim.
SPEAKER_02What a weird sensation that would probably be. What was that? What a weird sensation that would probably be, as like a ghost.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'd probably swim, but like, and then you wouldn't have to worry about holding your breath. You could dive, you could see everything. Like, I would want to go see all the reefs and like not worry about worrying about oxygen and be able to like go to the bottom and just see. I love snorkeling and scuba diving. So, like I would just love to be able to freely do that for as long as I wanted.
SPEAKER_02That would be a cool one. Like, you could explore the depths of the ocean that like we as humans can't.
SPEAKER_00Exactly. And like not in a submarine that's gonna implode, you know.
SPEAKER_01Even in death, I don't want to know it's at the bottom of the list.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, okay. See, I do I don't want to go to the very bottom, I just want to see like the reefs and uh I like to snorkel in the sunken ships and things like that, so it'd be really fun to be able to do that like freely.
SPEAKER_02That is a really good one.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'm a weird person, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Have you send me ones that I can say as my own? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Like, I don't know. I never really thought about much of like what I would do when I died. And that when you guys like talk about it, you talk about it as if you're ghosts, but I was raised in such a religious way that it's like you think about what you do when you go to heaven and not that you're really just like a ghost. And so it's I just I never thought about like what I would do if I were ghost, you know.
SPEAKER_02Well, that's interesting that you say that because I when you said I would go to like the libraries in heaven, I was like, Oh wow, I've never thought like to do something in heaven.
SPEAKER_00You're the complete opposite. Like, yeah, I'm like, oh, you go to heaven where the angels and goddess, but I don't really even believe that. But it was just like what was ingrained in me from such a young age, you know.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, almost what I would do. I would, I would, I the first thing I'm gonna do is I'm gonna go see what past lives I've lived.
SPEAKER_00Oh, exactly. Where else I was that's a good one. I want to I want to go to the library of heaven or wherever and read all about all of it.
SPEAKER_01So Brittany's gonna be busy for a while. Yeah, I know, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Don't bother me for like a millennium.
SPEAKER_02Be the librarian in heaven.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I would love to. I'd be the archivist for heaven.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_01Librarians would be like, get the fuck out of here.
SPEAKER_00No, seriously, like she's like, you read at a fifth grade, leave reading level. Like, get out of here.
SPEAKER_01I don't know how fast you can read.
SPEAKER_00He's a lion.
