Welcome back to Terrible Tuesome Tuesday, where two sisters tell you a haunted story and every tale comes with a side of family drama. I'm Ashley, Absolutely, and today's episode is the Amons Family Demon. Okay, let's get right into it. Um I have a question for you though, first, Simone. Have you um seen anything about the Amos Family Demon or read anything about it?
SPEAKER_02I watched the Zack Baggins documentary.
SPEAKER_00The deliverance on Netflix.
SPEAKER_02But I also don't really remember it.
SPEAKER_00Okay. So essentially it's about a mother and her three kids along with their grandmother who move into a home in Gary, Indiana, and start experiencing crazy paranormal activity.
SPEAKER_01That's because it's Indiana. Yeah. Nothing good happens in Indiana.
SPEAKER_00So at the beginning of the movie, it states that it's based on a true story and that even watching it might trigger paranormal activity. So obviously I had to watch it.
SPEAKER_02What's that movie? The Ring? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Is that the one where the girl comes out of the TV? Yeah, and you have like seven days after you watch it or something. Yeah. That shall kill you.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Anyway, if you tell me something might summon something, I'm definitely gonna watch it. So let's get into it.
SPEAKER_01Why?
SPEAKER_00Uh just for the scare factor. I love being scared. A witchy woman. Yeah. Okay, so in 2011, LaToya Ammons, her mother Rosa Campbell, and LaToya's three children, ages seven, nine, and twelve, moved into the house on Carolina Street in Gary, Indiana. So within a month of moving in, they claimed black flies invaded the porch even though it was winter, and they kept returning no matter how many times they had killed them. So does that sound familiar?
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like the Amityville haunting. Okay. Um, they also saw glimpses of a shadowy man pacing back and forth in the living room. Then Rosa found wet, muddy footprints where the figure had been walking. Okay, one, don't walk in my house if you don't live here. With muddy footprints.
SPEAKER_02And two, clean up after yourself.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, exactly. Are you fucking kidding me? Exactly. So LaToya and Rosa also claimed that they both heard repeated movement from the basement like someone was walking up the stairs and going into the kitchen. I don't like that. No. My husband would try to shoot it. Yeah, more than likely. That's his answer to everything. So LaToya also said that she was choked by an unknown force. So getting kinky with it. Well. Uh there was also a continuous, strange dripping noise, and the lights constantly flickered.
SPEAKER_02That dripping noise would drive me fucking crazy. Yeah, for sure. I wouldn't I could never. Especially if it never stopped. Like that's like torture. The fucking cat's water fountain. Oh, yeah. Drives me fucking crazy. I couldn't imagine a non-stop trip. Right. Dr. Crockpot. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Pop pot. All right. So drinking soda. Four months into their rental agreement, the family was hosting a wake, I think, um, when everyone had apparently witnessed La Toya's 12-year-old daughter levitating above her bed. So the group all stopped and prayed until she finally descended. And then of course, everyone there bolts, right?
SPEAKER_02Um Can you imagine that happening at a wake? Right. Like some shit's already happened. Yeah. And now somebody's levitating. Hopefully there's a priest there. Uh maybe. I don't know. Well, I get only for Catholic, I guess.
SPEAKER_00Um, but Latoya said something, quote, raised her up off the bed, snatched her off the bed, unquote. So at another time, the daughter was thrown across the room, grabbed by a dark shadow, and restrained. Yeah. I'm not I'm not gonna stick around for that.
SPEAKER_02So I'm not convinced that all shadows are demons. I know some people are. I'm not convinced of that. I've actually like come into contact with spirits that present themselves as like shadows or as uh like smoke um and they're just fucking around. I don't think regular ghosts uh snatch you.
SPEAKER_00No, I mean I uh I don't know. According to LaToya, that's what happened.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm just saying I don't think this is a regular ghost because snatched to me sounds scarier than grabbed.
SPEAKER_00For sure. That's like a quick, fast movement. You don't have any time to like to to like stop it from happening.
SPEAKER_02You're like more vulnerable.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So on top of all of this, Latoya said they all had to be in bed by 8 p.m. Because if they were awake past eleven, whatever this was would keep them up all night by throwing things, moving things, the house would turn cold, and the spirits would touch her and her children. So to be so like a cat, like I'm putting you to bed so I can go play.
SPEAKER_02I was thinking putting my children to bed so that I can eat ice cream and watch shows that have inappropriate things in them.
SPEAKER_00Well, I don't have kids, so I compare it to cats.
SPEAKER_02Well, um, it's kind of like that, except it's a lot more work.
SPEAKER_00So at this point, the family decided to seek help from a few local churches, and one suggested cleaning the property with bleach and drawing oil crosses on all the doors and windows. She was also told to anoint her children's heads and feet with oil and burn sage while reciting Psalm 91. So this helped for a few days, but the demon just came back even stronger. At the same time, she saw two mediums who told her that the family had exactly 200 spirits and suggested they move. Uh it's gonna be easier to move my family of five than two hundred spirits.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I didn't know Bleach was an anti-demon thing. I didn't know it had anti-demonic properties. Also, I if I heard 200 spirits, um, I would just probably give up.
SPEAKER_00Uh right. I'm not gonna I don't have the energy to fight 200 spirits.
SPEAKER_02I don't have the energy to deal with my kids, let alone 200 Yeah, but your kids 200 spirits away. The little one would for sure. For sure. They those ghosts would show up and be like, I'm getting the fuck out of here. Oh yeah. I so how long had they been in the house before?
SPEAKER_00Uh I think this is a month.
SPEAKER_02Oh wow, that's quick.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So once this ghost came back with a vengeance, LaToya decided to build an altar in the basement, and she covered it in a white sheet and had an open Bible and some candles and things like that.
SPEAKER_02That sounds like a terrible idea.
SPEAKER_00In the basement. I don't know why in the basement.
SPEAKER_02Like altar also just sounds like something you sacrifice something on.
SPEAKER_00Or something that you like you pray to. So uh like it doesn't make uh it makes me feel like these spirits are just gonna be like, oh, now she's praying to us.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Also, there's 200 of them, girl.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02That you're not even making a fucking dent.
SPEAKER_00No, not a not even close.
SPEAKER_02That's just not plausible.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_02That's just not a good plan. You gotta get like, you gotta get the Pope.
SPEAKER_00Right. It's gonna take the actual Pope to get rid of these.
SPEAKER_02I because that's cr that's crazy.
SPEAKER_00Her nine-year-old son was supposedly thrown across the room, and the seven-year-old son, he his eyes rolled back into his head. He started growling and saying, It's time to die. No, and I'll kill you. Absolutely not. Right. Like children in haunting stories are scary enough, but then when they start saying things like that and their eyes are rolling back in their heads, no, thank you.
SPEAKER_02I have a hard time going back and forth between like kicking my child out and um like going full mom against whatever's doing this, right? Like, I want to pret I joke, but like I would I would be fucking pissed if something was fucking with my kid like that. Right. Um, but also a seven-year-old saying it's time to die, I don't fucking like that. No, no, I don't like that at all. And I'll kill you. I wouldn't sleep well.
SPEAKER_00No, not at all.
SPEAKER_02I'd it I don't know. I'd be like, would you like to watch YouTube?
SPEAKER_00So one night supposedly the children's eyes had bulged and they had unnatural grins on their faces. And at the same time this was happening, Latoya started feeling lightheaded and not in control of her body.
SPEAKER_02I hate everything about this. Yeah. So the no.
SPEAKER_00The kids also started talking about death to no one in the room. No, like the little one was sitting in a closet, staring at the closet wall, talking to no one about death.
SPEAKER_01Me really anxious. Right. I fucking hate everything about this.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So something also threw the littlest one across the room after he had been speaking with this thing in his closet.
SPEAKER_02Okay, I would fucking lose it. Like, stop throwing my kids around. I would be George Lutz fucking come out and fight. Like that I I would fucking lose it. I would lose my fucking mind. And I would then put garlic around my kid's neck. I would put I would put crosses.
SPEAKER_00Garlic is for vampires.
SPEAKER_02I know, just to there's 200 of them. You don't know. I guess. Dracula could be in there.
SPEAKER_00That's true.
SPEAKER_02Um to be serious for a second though, like you would feel so fucking helpless.
SPEAKER_00Uh what do you do when your child starts like exhibiting signs of uh demonic possession, essentially, or oppression at least.
SPEAKER_02And it's so I imagine that you would feel angry, obviously, but also like it's just so unfair. Right. You're supposed to just be having this like normal childhood. Oh, for sure. I would a hundred percent be yelling into the air uh to not touch my fucking kids.
SPEAKER_00For sure.
SPEAKER_02I can't imagine how alone you feel. And you can't just like go tell anyone. No, right.
SPEAKER_00You can't just like this is you can't just like go to the news and ask for help. Yeah. Um, so while all of this is happening and the youngest child is talking to no one in his closet, um, her daughter starts hearing voices telling her that death was near and she'd never see her family again. She also had to have stitches in her head after a headboard flew across the room and hit her. My god, that poor girl. Yeah. At 12. She's 12.
SPEAKER_02Preteen girls are blamed a lot for hauntings. And poltergeist activity, yes. Yeah. Um, and I just that's such a hard time in your life already. Like for sure. You're already all fucked up in the head and you're all gangly and for sure ugly. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I was uh I've never seen like a cute 12-year-old child.
SPEAKER_02And so it's just that poor girl. Like hearing those voices would be so fucking scary. It would be fucking scary as a 38-year-old. So I can't imagine if I was 12. No. And you know, mom and dad would be like, okay.
SPEAKER_00Oh, for sure. They would be like, You're just trying to get out of school. But they would say that to you for sure. For yeah. Anyway, speaking of school, the children were also missing a lot of school, which Latoya blamed on the demonic activities. So this is when doctors and police start getting involved. So in April of 2012, LaToya reached out to her family physician and he visited the house to examine the children. So he didn't see he didn't see any paranormal incidents, but he did notate that the children's delusional but violent behavior, low voices, disturbing statements, and they were cursing at him.
SPEAKER_02Well, you know, that job's really hard. Um, and you see some fucked up shit. So you would definitely my first impression would be that they're being abused.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So I can't blame police and social workers for their reaction. Um but at the same time, again, like that's what makes that's what makes demons able to latch on even more is that they they you're alone. Right. They're isolating you. Right. Um So I don't blame them for being like, what the fuck is this? Uh and blaming whoever they blame. Go on. I need to know.
SPEAKER_00So the doctor wrote that the family's behavior was odd, and he stated that there were delusions of ghosts in the home and hallucinations.
SPEAKER_02Oh, was that the doctor that witnessed that?
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00But he did admit to being scared when he walked in the house.
SPEAKER_02The doctor? Yeah, the doctor was the doctor in the house.
SPEAKER_00Because he came, he did like a house call.
SPEAKER_02Is that a thing still?
SPEAKER_00Well, apparently in Gary Indiana it is.
SPEAKER_02Well, I believe that because it's fucking neat. So not only was I'm just kidding, I don't have anything against Indiana.
SPEAKER_00Not only did he notate that there was violent behavior, low voices, disturbing statements, and that they were cursing at him, but he also was scared when he walked in. So that has to that tells you a little something.
SPEAKER_02Like especially a doctor who you think is like a person of science. Right. Right? Like just being scared for no reason. That you can't like you just walk in somewhere and you feel fear. Right.
SPEAKER_00Uh that gives some plausibility. Mm-hmm. Uh, from there, someone called for an ambulance because apparently all three children had passed out after cursing at the doctor, and then the children were taken to the hospital where the youngest boy supposedly screamed and thrashed and had to be restrained. So while they were at the hospital, medical staff witnessed the youngest child fly into the air and against a wall. I wish I didn't sign up for this shit. It gets weirder.
SPEAKER_02I like, can you imagine though? You're just like a you're not even a nurse, you're like a CNA. Yeah. You're like, what the fuck? You're like a candy striper. Yeah. You're just the janitor. Right. You're like, what the fuck is this shit?
SPEAKER_00I just wanted to do to my one simple job and go home. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02In reality, though, that's crazy to report.
SPEAKER_00Right. And so the Department of Child Services was alerted and they said the children were just performing for their mother. How? Yeah. How do you how do you get thrown against a wall in midair?
SPEAKER_01Uh okay.
SPEAKER_02Again, social workers, your job is so hard. I cannot imagine doing it. Um, I could never, so like thank you. But also if a child flies in the air and doctors are telling you this, I feel like interview some more people or something.
SPEAKER_00Right. Something. Okay, so the next thing that happens is crazy. Crazier to me, I think. So Valerie Washington, she was the first case manager from CPS that the family had, and she was in the hospital room with the youngest boy and Rosa, the grandma. So there was also a psychiatrist in the room who was supposed to be evaluating the child. Valerie, the CPS worker, said the boy began to growl, charged at Rosa's stomach, no, head butted her several times.
SPEAKER_01I well, I get headbutted in this.
SPEAKER_00And then he began walking up the wall backwards. That's like crawling up the wall.
SPEAKER_02Quit and get a new job.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and he did this in front of the grandma, the CPS worker, and the psychiatrist.
SPEAKER_02What would you do as a psychiatrist? I don't know why the psychiatrist is like the one that sticks out to me, but like you're like trying to figure out what's wrong with this kid, and then that happens, and you're like, he's a spider, apparently.
SPEAKER_00This is above my pay band, this is out of scope. I don't have any documentation to help me get through this.
SPEAKER_02First of all, children in ghost stores are creepy. Always. No matter what. Always. Second of all, fuck no. No. Fuck no.
SPEAKER_00Like, I'm out of there. I'm I'm leaving the room, which is exactly what they did. So Valerie admitted to seeing this to the police, and then she told them that after witnessing that, she and the psychiatrist just left the room. Like, what else are we doing? What else are you gonna do? I'm gonna tell you that fucking shut the door and lock it.
SPEAKER_02Also, you just left the grandma in there? Yeah. You just kidding. Grandma stops. Oh, she would beat our asses.
SPEAKER_00Get the fuck off the wall. You're embarrassing me. Try to act like you got some sense. This is not cute, Simone. Right.
SPEAKER_02You're not being cute, and I don't think it's funny. Yeah, no. But oh my god, the way that it just like itched something in my brain when you said she would look at you with her lips pursed together and like talk through her teeth, you know?
SPEAKER_00Yes, and point her bony finger at you. And then she would roll her eyes at you.
SPEAKER_02And the funny difference is that if mom saw it, she would cry.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god, mom would burst into tears. Mom would cry. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Because she would be like, How are we gonna look like the perfect family?
SPEAKER_00I can't tell my friends that my child is crawling up a wall backwards. I mean, it's kind of impressive if you could leave out the demon. I would tell all of my friends. Like I would look what my kid can do. He is now a main attraction at my house. I would get on this fucking podcast. I would get my phone out and say, can you do it again? And then I would go, What the fuck? Okay, but in all reality, if I saw one of your children doing that, I would probably you would leave. I I don't know. I love them so much that I would never want them to be alone, but I feel like I might be like, okay, well, it's not them.
SPEAKER_02I still love you. It's okay. I I'll love the demon inside you too. Yeah. Leaving the grandma in there is crazy. Yeah, I definitely did you fucking lock the door behind me. I would have.
SPEAKER_00I would have shut the door and locked it. So anyway, that night Latoya had a psychological evaluation done, and the doctor said she was of sound mind and that there were no concerns for her mental stability. But even though her psych evaluation was normal, the kids were still removed from the home. So a while later. What do you do? What uh what what but what if your or if her psych evaluation comes back normal and the children climb up walls, but aren't uh but like they're not exhibiting anything that says there's violent behavior going on in the home. Like, what do you have to go on to remove the children?
SPEAKER_02Well, couldn't you make the argument that something fucked is happening in the house?
SPEAKER_00Well, obviously, but like removing a wall-crawling child from the home is not going to keep him from crawling the walls. Okay.
SPEAKER_02I do I so I understand because like I think foster care is one of the two most traumatizing things could happen to a child. No. Um, even if it's a good foster home, I imagine it's just really awful and traumatic. Right. So I understand that that shouldn't be your go-to, but also I don't think the kids leaving the house is a bad thing. I think maybe in retrospect or in hindsight, they should have provided services to the mom as well.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely, yeah. But getting the kids out of the house was, you know, a first step to getting them at least away from what they think is the mom. Yeah. Cause you know, telling them to act this way.
SPEAKER_02Also, though, like my heart breaks for her because I can't fucking imagine, dude. I can't fucking imagine. Especially like you already feel alone, you already feel tortured, you already feel like you are trapped, like you have no option but to fucking stay here, and then your fucking kids get taken away from you. Like I the fucking all-time low, I cannot imagine that. Like you would feel so defeated. Absolutely. That's just so sad.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely. Um, a while later, after the kids have been taken, DCS asked the Hammond Police Department to come and do a walkthrough of the home to ensure that it was safe for the children to return to. So, according to the officers' report, while they were at the house, two of them experienced radio malfunctions. Their uh voice recorders' batteries drained, even though they were just put in that morning. They also saw a white, smoky apparition and recorded a voice saying, Hey. Also, the report stated that the youngest son would growl when Latoya would talk about churches she had visited. And at the same time, the police and Latoya heard one of the kids yelling for help and walked into the Next room where one kid had the nine-year-old head, the nine-year-old in a headlock. So the report said that they obviously it was blanked out, they didn't mention his name, but they said that his eyes were rolling in his head and he was growling and his teeth were showing while he held tight to his brother's throat. It took several staff to pry the hand open. And then according to the report, the child who was doing the choking laid back down in the bed and his facial expression changed.
SPEAKER_02Look, I have two boys, and all of that sounds on par.
SPEAKER_00Right. I mean the facial expression changing is a little bit weird to me. Like what I don't it doesn't mean it doesn't say like it was menacing and then happy or happy and then menacing. It just it doesn't it doesn't specify, but like the facial change to me is what gets me because like if you're mad enough to choke out your brother, when you get pulled off of him, you're still gonna be mad.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, for sure. That's creepy. Uh but you know, my five-year-old chokes out the two-year-old routinely. Um, all in good fun. He's not psychotic, he's just a boy. But I don't know. That's boys are weird. Yeah. I only say that because I only have a sister and I don't know what I'm doing.
SPEAKER_00Captain Charles Austin, who was a watch commander with the police department, um, he saw several crucifixes and Bibles throughout the house. He said that he also had an eerie feeling that he had never had in the 37 years that he had been with the police. And he believed that the paranormal activity was happening at the house for sure. So what he believed was that it it it messed with men through electronics and women through like physical force. Interesting.
SPEAKER_02And that's so fucking that's just the tracks. It should be the opposite. The fucking tracks. Yeah. Even in death, women are pushed around. Taken advantage of. Yeah. Um, that is a weird finding though. Like ha that's interesting.
SPEAKER_00So all the cops that were there, they went down to the basement, which was full of crucifixes and Bibles and that altar. And then Captain Austin said, It's time for me to leave. I've had enough. He did note that it was strange that the entire basement, floors, walls, everything was concrete except under the wooden stairs, where it was all dirt and a pan and a candle. So it was just a dirt bed with some kind of pan in it and a candle. And the rest of it was all cement. So there were two doors in the basement, and one went into a separate bedroom, and the police noticed that the door would open and close on its own. Fuck. Right? I in a basement. No, thank you.
SPEAKER_02That's what there's a lot of stories uh that I've read where it's like cops and doctors and you know like whoever social workers, pe other people witnessed what was happening on like a small scale. Um, and I find that so interesting.
SPEAKER_00Right, because these are people who uh by their job description, they're either like really science-based or their uh their job is like protection, not uh detection.
SPEAKER_02Right. And I think police do use, you know, investigative theory, which is like a science. So I even police are yeah for logic, like you have to figure out who's saying what and what's the truth, you know, whatever. So going into that house and just being like, all right, I'm just gonna fucking look around and see, you know, what I see, whatever.
SPEAKER_00And being like, I've seen enough, I'm done.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And what do you do after that? Do you say like, well, there's no, you know, there's food in the house, it's not dirty, there's no mold anywhere, like it's physically safe.
SPEAKER_00Or I just don't want to go there.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, or do you go back and be like, I don't know, man, I don't think anyone should live there. Sure, the kids will be safe, uh, but I didn't feel safe. Yeah. Uh like you can put the kids back in, but please don't call me again.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_02Uh so what do you do?
SPEAKER_00I mean, I guess that I guess I shit, I don't know. I guess, you know, do my job to ensure that the actual physical home is safe for children to return to and chalk up my eerie feeling as like, you know, I just it's an old creepy house and I was in an old creepy basement, and yeah, there was some weird shit under the stairs, but uh there's nothing here that tells me that these kids can't come back.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, like illegally, there's nothing. I would be like, You can come live with me. Right? But don't bring this shit with you.
SPEAKER_00Right. So at one point, one of the officers had left, and while driving down the road, his radio station changed on its own to static, and a voice came through and said, Who in there? In where? In yeah. Sir, you're in my radio. You're in there, yeah. Motherfucker in there. So this someone apparently talked to this officer later who said that he would never even go down that street again, and that if a suspect runs down, he's not pursuing him. So we might not include that in this podcast. So suspects don't continuously run down that road. Yeah, I don't want to be. So Captain Austin, like I said, he believes that the house attacks women and children physically and and men electronically. He also believed that whatever happened under the stairs is the cause of the hauntings. So he now believes that that yes, this house is haunted, and this is the reason why, because of this little this weird little dirt area under the stairs.
SPEAKER_02So my first thought of a dirt area in a all concrete basement would be like a body's definitely buried down there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Like why wouldn't you continue to cement the rest of this like four-foot area?
SPEAKER_02I mean, maybe you ran out of concrete, but no home project goes to plan, right? Right. But uh I that's just a very odd I don't know. I guess it kind of makes sense if you run out of concrete to the area you're not gonna use. I mean, I don't know. I I guess. I don't know. I guess I just don't like the idea of dirt, like bare ground being in my house. Right. Also, one more thing. Sure. Uh would you dig in a would you dig? Would uh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I would.
SPEAKER_02You're crazy.
SPEAKER_00I would have to know what else was under there.
SPEAKER_02I'd put a blanket over it. No, I know my kids would dig it up.
SPEAKER_00Of course they would.
SPEAKER_02They'd for sure dig it.
SPEAKER_00Fucking your cat would be down there, like, what's under here? Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_02For sure. Everyone in my house is so nosy.
SPEAKER_00Your husband would have dug it up before you guys even closed escrow. So uh, yeah.
SPEAKER_02He would I don't know what he would do. He would definitely be like, What the fuck is this?

SPEAKER_00Oh, that's right. So uh they that's exactly what they did. They dug four feet under the stairs. That's a lot. Okay, so they found a whole bunch of shit under the stairs. They found a press-on fingernail. Well, yeah. Okay. I lose those all the time. Women's panties. Do you lose those all the time? Not anymore. They found children's socks.

SPEAKER_00Right. Um, they found a heavy bar, a political. Yeah, like some like a pickle bar or something. Okay. A political shirt pin. Okay. That's weird. Uh yeah. A lid for a cooking pan. Well, to go with the pan that was on top. Well, I don't even know if that was a cooking pan.
SPEAKER_02It could have been like a a like a like an oil changing pan for your food or something. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, and then they found socks with the bottoms cut off of them. A candy wrapper.
SPEAKER_02That is a teenage boy. Oh, gross. You're supposed to be-trick if you keep the sock intact, then you don't have like a mess to clean up. You can just put it in the laundry.
SPEAKER_00Along with the um socks with the bottoms cut off, yeah. There was a candy wrapper and a red tin. What kind of candy? I don't know. They didn't specify. Oh. That's that's important. It's not, but anyway, so Austin, the uh watch commander, he called it himself. He called it a portal to hell. So why? It was just a bunch of random shit. I guess just from the feeling that he got in that house and like thinking that that was the thing that was causing the hauntings. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Again, though, as a mom, if I dug four feet and found a bunch of random shit and a sock without a bottom, I would for sure be like, this is my kids taking my goddamn pan lids and shit.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, I definitely think if I had, what were they, nine and seven, I would probably think that it was the kids.
SPEAKER_02And now I suddenly understand why dad would be blaming us. Yeah. See, because it's probably the children.
SPEAKER_00So at the same time that they find this, rumor has it that La Toya was in an abusive relationship and that that man was responsible for possibly putting a curse on her home and putting all of this stuff in the ground.
SPEAKER_02Like a fucking man.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And then he moves out, like, huh, bitch. Really?
SPEAKER_02I that you how petty do you have to be to put a curse on the woman? Oh, my husband would for sure.
SPEAKER_00I would do it.
SPEAKER_02I you know. Can't you just leave things amicable? Right? Do you really have to do she has kids for God's sake. Yeah, and also a curse.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. How the fuck do you break a curse? Like, you know, be one of those assholes that calls CPS and says, like, you need to go check on those kids. Like you couldn't be one of those people. You had to put a full-on curse on her. Even that, that's and the chances that you knew what you were doing are slim to none. But the fact that it's stuck, like, okay, maybe you did know a little bit about what you were doing.
SPEAKER_02I think curses are only as powerful as your belief in them. That's true.
SPEAKER_00So if you really believe in it, if you do it wrong, it's still gonna work.
SPEAKER_02He must have been really mad.
SPEAKER_00At one point, when the police were investigating, they were in a bedroom upstairs and the blinds were dripping with some kind of oil. So one of the officers cleaned up the oil and then he left the room to ensure that Rosa, the grandmother, wasn't going back in the room and putting the oil back on the blinds for some reason. He put a q-tip between-this little old lady being like, fuck these cops. Like, excuse me, I had that oil there for a reason. Um, he put a q-tip between the door and the door frame so that he knew if Rosa went back in there. So when he went back, the q-tip was still in the door frame, so no one had gone in there, and the oil was back on the blinds.
SPEAKER_02Okay, yeah. I guess there was oil in Amityville too in the in the toilet. Yeah. Or at least she thought it was oil. I guess I just I've never attributed oil to hauntings. Also, why on the blinds? I don't know. Blinds get greasy easily.
SPEAKER_00But this was like dripping oil. Yeah, it wasn't like grease. And blinds don't really get greasy in a bedroom.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's true.
SPEAKER_00Like that's more of a kitchen thing.

SPEAKER_00A new CPS case manager was assigned to the family because Valerie, the one that was in the hospital when the little boy crawled up the wall, she refused to come back to the house. Yeah, I don't fucking blame her. Right? So at some point, this new CPS case manager touched the wall and there was some kind of fluid dripping from it. And this was in the basement. They get out of the basement, they go upstairs. Ten minutes later, her finger where she touched whatever this was was white, like bright white. Okay, I have to make this joke. Yes.
SPEAKER_02The teenage boy with the smaller joke down there. Anyway, so he cut the bottoms out, so yeah.
SPEAKER_00Well, stop, that's gross.
SPEAKER_02Just saying.
SPEAKER_00So apparently, when all of this is happening, Reverend Michael Magno was standing outside and his face was white. He was looking at the house, and all he said was, the blinds are dripping, and told them that this was the manifestation of evil energies or a demonic presence.
SPEAKER_02I need to look up what the signs of a demonic presence are. Because I that's just I've never heard of that.
SPEAKER_00I feel like I have heard of like oil drip dripping before.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. Yeah, I guess that it's probably some sort of like uh religious mockery.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's what it feels like because they anoint the windows and doors with oil in a cross.
SPEAKER_02Okay. This is starting to go. I don't have good listening comprehension.

SPEAKER_00So a few days after the physician visited, Latoya asked Reverend Magano to perform an exorcism. So this is after the doctor came to the home and saw these weird signs of them like growling and cursing. Um, that's what causes her to ask Reverend Magano for an exorcism, not the like climbing up the wall. Just so we're clear. Okay. So Reverend Magano came into the house. He noticed a light that would flicker, but stop any time that he approached it. The blinds were moving even though there was no breeze, and he also noticed the wet footprints manifesting on the floor.
SPEAKER_01I think as a religious person, I would be more scared.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, absolutely. Because I don't that I feel like they would go after you quicker.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, absolutely. That's like their biggest test right there. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So Reverend We all know that demons are Leos. So they have a really big ego. Can't be outdone. Yeah, they're like, I think the fuck not.
SPEAKER_00Yes, exactly. Yeah. So Reverend Magnot told Latoya to research the demons' names. No. And put them on a piece of paper. No. And then, yeah, and when she tried to do this, her internet kept shutting down, the computer kept turning off, and Latoya kept getting sick.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So, girl, stop. That's your sign. Stop. You you they were giving you a warning. I why the f listen. To anyone who doesn't know this, don't say demons' names out loud. Don't write them down. No. Don't read them. No. If you can, don't even fucking think about them. Avoid them altogether. Yeah. Like, don't do it. I don't why would a why would a a m minister or whatever he was tell you to do that?
SPEAKER_00I don't know. That's that's like you want me to research them and then you want me to write them down. That is paranormal 101. Yeah, exactly. Ed and Lorraine would tell you no. Chip would also tell you. Where's Chip Coffee at when you need him? Yeah. So Reverend Maganel performed two exorcisms, one in English, or two of them were in English, and one of them was in Latin, so he did three total. Okay, I'm so sorry.
SPEAKER_02Was he a priest? Like a Catholic priest? He's a reverend. No, those are two different things.
SPEAKER_00No, his he's a reverend, apparently. I don't know why he's doing exorcisms.

SPEAKER_00Yeah. Okay. Sounds like it. Anyway, so he does them in front of two police officers and a DCS caseworker, and then he burned the piece of paper that had the demon's name on it.

SPEAKER_02No, we don't, because you don't fucking read them. Also, I'm just saying fire's kind of their thing. Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_00Yeah. I'm not going to lie. So anyway, uh, Reverend Magano said that the exorcisms, the exorcisms caused intense and powerful reactions, not just from LaToya, but the actual house itself. He didn't really go into any more detail. Interesting. Um, so LaToya also performed her own exorcism. So after she does this and after Reverend Magano does his three exorcisms, she says she starts feeling normal again, which I don't think they were done all back to back. I think they were done over a series of time, but she says she starts feeling normal again.
SPEAKER_02You always do though, right? For a for a little bit. If someone comes in and fucking does whatever and then It's a placebo effect for three days, you're good. We're gonna do an episode later in the season where it it's just like they call everybody and for like a week it's good. And by like the sixth time, you're like, it's not gonna stick.
SPEAKER_00Right. Right. It's just not gonna happen. So um the family eventually left the house in 2012. They moved to Indianapolis and Latoya regained custody of her children. So good for you, go Latoya. Um, children for the most part belong with their family. But not always.
SPEAKER_02Let's not, yeah. Uh, but also I'm glad that they all got out.
SPEAKER_00Yes, me too. So now we're going to Do we get an update of how they're doing now? We will get okay. We will get there, yes. So now we're gonna switch from the LaTe from La Toyus Family to Zach Baggins documentary, the one that we mentioned at the beginning of the podcast, The Deliverance on Netflix.
SPEAKER_02What does Phil call him?
SPEAKER_00Uh I think he calls him Z Zach Beau Baggins. I don't know. It's something way funnier than that, but I can never remember.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So in 2014, Zach Baggins of Ghost Adventures started having nightmares about a 12-foot-tall goat man demon. Yeah. Not just one nightmare. They were there were several. He believed it was a premonition or a spiritual link to the entity at that very home in Gary, Indiana. Why did he think that home? I don't know. I mean, I'm sure as a as a a somebody in his line of work, I guess, I'm sure, uh, has heard of this house before. Um, but I don't know. But in his dream, it was like a spiritual link to that house. Right. So two years later, in 2016, so this is five years after the the Hammond the Ammons family lived there, the house came up for auction and Zach purchased it for $35,000.
SPEAKER_02Oh wow.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, it's Indiana. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I don't know anything about Indiana. 2016. Yeah, for sure. Right after he bought the house, he started filming a documentary, and that documentary took him three years to film.
SPEAKER_02Oh wow.
SPEAKER_00So when he got Earth, that nature documentary.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. You ever seen it? No. Oh, it's really fucking good. Uh it took seven years. Oh, Jesus. And they and I mean they Okay, but seven years for the whole planet or three years for one house. That's what I'm saying. Is that I they cover from fucking top to bottom and like crazy shit. And didn't take that much longer.
SPEAKER_00He was definitely taking his time with the documentary. Which I think is safe. Well, also, he doesn't live in Indiana, so he it's not like he's there every day, probably. I don't know. I'm just speculating. But when he did get to Gary, Indiana, he immediately hunted down the Ammons family in Indianapolis, but they wouldn't talk to him. So he even found their address because La Toya was on a newscast about mold in apartment buildings. And it happened to show the number of her apartment, and Zach was able to backtrack and find her address from that news report that she did.
SPEAKER_02Not just a paranormal investigator baggins. An actual investigator. Um, so like he googled it and found that video, or he like actively watched it on the news.
SPEAKER_00I I think he googled it. I don't know. I didn't talk to him today, so I'm not sure which. Um Wow. But he I think he Googled her to find her and then found that video. I was like, because I was I was like, what are the chances that she was just fucking on TV? Yeah. Um, so the Emmons family wouldn't cooperate, but LaToya's brother Kevin went back to the house with Zach and his film crew. LaToya apparently told him not to go in the house. And I don't know if Kevin lives with LaTooya at this point, but he was there when Zach tracked her down, and LaToya uh when he went to the house, Latoya said, Don't go in the house. So Kevin told Zach on the way to the house, he told him about a time when the family was at his house and the boys started chanting to each other back and forth in his living room.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.

SPEAKER_00Yeah. Do that on your own time. Another time they were trying to sad nerd. Another time they were trying to get the kids in the car, and all three of them started tacking attacking each other. And when Rosa, the grandma, I think, got involved, one of the kids said, Get your hands off me, you old ass bitch. It's not funny.
SPEAKER_02Oh, that made my butthole clench. It's not funny. It's I it's kind of funny. Umce they were back in the car. No, hold on. Okay. Once that made my butthole clench, because if I said that to grandma, shh, I we wouldn't be here. No. I wouldn't be here. I'd be in the afterlife. Yes. That bitch. Oh my god, dude. That makes me so anxious.

SPEAKER_00So once the kids were back in the car, when they got in the car, they started violently slamming their bodies into the back seats. I just, you know. Manyone. Like I remember when I was little, like bouncing off of the seat, but not like violently slamming into it.
SPEAKER_02Again, I just I have boys. They're very I get Hulk smashed every day. Like he was headbutting and I get headbutt in the stomach every single day. Yeah, I've definitely been headbutting. I get punched, slapped, pinched, bit, licked. Like I don't boys are crazy.
SPEAKER_00They're a different animal. There's also a girl there, though. And she's doing it too. Yeah, shells us two brothers. I guess. I don't know. When Kevin went back to LaToya's apartment, okay, after he and Zach had gone to the house, LaToya wouldn't let him in simply because he was with Zach and Zach had been in the house.
SPEAKER_02I can't blame 100% would feel the same way. Yeah. I'd be like, don't get in the fucking lake with me. Yeah. Like you're not like, don't even get in the same lake as me. Right. I don't that get out of my air space. Oh, for sure. Because I I feel like the air around people, I feel like I can feel and it I don't like it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. If you're aura. Yeah. So Zach contacted Reverend Magno, who we remember did a minor rice ritual on La Toya and three exorcisms. And he told Zach that every time that he would touch her with a cross, she would start to convulse, which was at least three times. Sounds exhausting. Yeah. I mean, God, can you imagine what your body like goes through after all that? Yeah. So he believes that the activity under the stairs is necromancy, which if you don't know is the practice of conjuring spirits, communicating with spirits, things like that.
SPEAKER_02I do know that because I read my tarot every morning at work. And the lady who sits next to me I said something about Ouija boards, and she said, tarot cards are the same thing. And I said, No, they're not. And she said, It's necromancy. And I didn't know what that was, so I looked it up and I was like, I don't think tarot cards are necromancy.
SPEAKER_00I don't either whatsoever, but let's get on. Yeah. So at this point, Zach is trying to determine if the Almons are part of some elaborate hoax when he gets a call from some Hollywood producer. This Hollywood producer is threatening him because he wants the rights to the Almon story. So right as he's starting to do it.
SPEAKER_02Can't you do a documentary and a movie?
SPEAKER_00I have no idea. I have no clue. But he wants the rights to the Ammon story. And so at the same time, he's already thinking that this is some kind of hoax. So that's when he realizes that La Toya wouldn't talk to him because she was already talking to this producer. Oh it has nothing to do with like being scared.
SPEAKER_02Scandalous. I would be pissed, first of all. Second of all, that I just bought this house. Yeah. Yeah. Um, and second of all, I know Zach Bo Baggins did not take that as an answer.
SPEAKER_00No, not at all. No. He's a persistent man. He's gonna he is for sure a Leo or an Aries. I think you might be right, and I think I need you to fact check that. Yeah, I will. So while Simone's doing that, um, so here's where things get a little bit strange and are like a little, okay, did these things actually happen? Or again, is this a hoax? So when Zach bought the house, it was full of squatters, and none of them had reported having any paranormal experiences in the house, nor had the landlord who had been managing the property for something like 20 years.
SPEAKER_02Real quick. Yeah. Zach Baggins is an Aries.
SPEAKER_00Oh, good call. Yeah. I knew it was a sun sign. Again, these squatters and the landlord, they've experienced nothing.

SPEAKER_00One of the squatters told Zach about Inside Edition coming, but wouldn't give him any more information without being paid. Well during so that so why is Inside Edition there? Again, is LaToya calling Inside Edition? Like why you know? What's it? What is Oh, Inside Edition, if you I'm like the only one uh old enough to know what this is. It was like not gonna remember hard copy either. I'm sure you're not the oldest. So it's like Inside Edition was like a I don't even know what to compare it to today. It was like a news channel or news show that g like had all kinds of different it wasn't like your local news, it was like coverage of all kinds of weird stuff.
SPEAKER_02This says a syndicated news magazine includes investigative reports, interviews with newsmakers, human interest stories, and celebrity and pop culture features.
SPEAKER_00I guess it could be like dateline, but not as like sophisticated. Okay. Anyway, that's funny. I didn't think of I didn't think that you wouldn't know what Inside Edition was.
SPEAKER_02Began the year I was born.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay. So during this time, there was a news article wherein the rest of the Ammons family who didn't live there claimed that nothing happened, and LaToya's stepgrandmother insisted that nothing went on. There's actual news articles of the of the family saying, like, LaToya's crazy, this didn't happen. She's making it up. Yeah, true. So there was also a picture that circulated the internet that I think was taken by one of the officers, but I'm not sure. And you'll you can see it on our Instagram. It's of a shadowy, misty figure standing in a window. But Zach says flat out that it looks like it was edited by a phone. Like he doesn't even give it a second thought. So Zach hired an inspector to come to the home who found black mold and asbestos and suspected that there was probably a very slow carbon monoxide leak. Obviously, black mold produces um mysotoxins that can cause hallucinations, delusions, confusion, and memory loss, while carbon monoxide can cause both visual and auditory hallucinations.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00But that doesn't really explain how multiple people have seen the same things, I don't think.
SPEAKER_02Or how someone flies up in the air and crawls on a wall.
SPEAKER_00Or I don't I don't know how quickly either of these things affect someone, but how is it already affecting like the officer that came in and you know, like right off the bat was like, I don't like it here, and the doctor who didn't like it there.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So anyway, the landlord, previous tenants, and the next tenants after the Ammons family moved out, all said they've never experienced anything paranormal at the house, and had also stated that Latoya was behind on her rent and using the so-called experiences to avoid payments.
SPEAKER_02Oh, well, I could I mean I could understand why someone would do that. I understand that kind of desperation.
SPEAKER_00So even though these past tenants had never experienced anything, some of them did say that they found strange symbols under the stairs. Several professionals and psychologists interviewed the children, and one said they were just acting in accordance with the mother's beliefs and only acted possessed when they were challenged or didn't want to answer a question. So LaToya also was on the news at her newest house complaining again, like we said, a mold problem.
SPEAKER_02Okay, girl.
SPEAKER_00So remember when I said that he found her apartment on the news because she was on the news for a mold problem. So is she just trying to scam landlords when she gets behind on rent? Or is this a totally plausible she actually had mold and she was actually haunted?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean, if I was on a jury, I would probably say she's she's doing something shady. Yeah, she's I don't know what she's guilty of, but she's guilty of something.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. My question is why did LaToya have the exorcisms when she herself said it was the children that were possessed and bothered by the spirit and that she had never experienced the things they had. So why not get your children exorcisms and not you? Yeah. That's it. So that's another thing that was kind of like, okay, that's weird. That was like a for attention kind of thing. So at this point, Zach and his film crew went back to the house and sort of do a small investigation when a woman and her three kids pull up. So remember, he's starting to wonder if this is a hoax because of all of these different things. And he's at the house and this woman pulls up with her three kids. This woman, um, Micah, said she lived there for a few years in the 90s and remembered that a friend of hers would always hear footsteps in the house.
SPEAKER_02Oh, interesting. And they heard footsteps on the stairs in the basement, didn't they? Yeah. And in the living room or yeah, no, yeah. That guy like walking, leaving muddy footprints.
SPEAKER_00Interesting. Okay, so while they're filming in the basement, which Micah had never gone to before, something lived there and never gone in the basement? Yeah. Okay. Something kicks her. And you can clearly see it on the video that her knee buckles, but no one kicks her. She said that while she was living there, she would have dreams that someone would die soon. She told her family about the dreams, but no one took her seriously. But then her brother lived in the bedroom that's in the basement at the time, and not too long after she had these dreams, her brother was shot and killed.
SPEAKER_02That's so sad. Yeah. I guess sometimes when that happens, I mean she knows she's she might be a medium. You know? Yeah. Like that could that could have nothing to do with the house.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_02You never know. Maybe him getting shot and killed was part of.
SPEAKER_00While they're walking around upstairs, they're by the front door, and after reviewing the footage, they hear Run La Toya recorded on Micah's mic. I don't like that. No, not at all. I don't like that. No. So after Micah and her family leave, Zach and his crew set up a separate altar in the living room, and within just a few minutes, Zach gets really aggressive with someone on the crew. He's like pushing them around the living room and telling him, get the fuck out, get out, get out. And we all know Zach has a little flair for the dramatics, but he's also an Aries.
SPEAKER_02Okay. I'm serious, man. Those sun signs, they're fucking crazy. Oh, excuse me. They're fucking No, we're not. It's a lot.
SPEAKER_00We're just passionate.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god, it's just like zero to a hundred all the time, and you have like three emotional ranges, like super happy. Super mad, super sad.
SPEAKER_00Like, God, can we just have like a middle ground? Do you think it's exhausting for you? Try being one of us. Anyway, later that night, after the crew is back at their hotel, Zach gets a phone call from the neighbor at the house on Gary in Gary, saying someone is trying to break in. So Zach calls the police and meets them at the house. The officers refuse to even go near the house, let alone inside of the house. And then one of them tells Zach to tear that motherfucker down. But then backtracks and wonders if that would just release all the evils of the house onto the world. I mean, it's a good question. For sure.
SPEAKER_02Maybe can you gotta go somewhere.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. They have to go somewhere. I have always wondered that when you tear something down. Like, where does the ghost go? I think they just wander aimlessly.
SPEAKER_02That's so sad.
SPEAKER_00I know. Not if you're a demon. No. But they don't do that. That's a different, that's they're not ghosts.
SPEAKER_02That's true.
SPEAKER_00So Zach gets in touch with Valerie Washington. She was the first case manager. And she tells him that she had to go to therapy to process what she saw in the hospital with the kid walking up the wall backwards.
SPEAKER_02Well, wouldn't you?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and that it took her a long time to move past it. Girls. Yeah. That's true. Don't act like that's strange. Right. She told Zach that the boy couldn't remember doing it and that it wasn't within his capacity to literally walk on walls, obviously. But three weeks after their visit, Micah calls Zach and tells him that her daughter tried to commit suicide by overdosing on prescription medication and stabbing herself in the wrist with a pen. So this type of wound is what we would call stigmata, which is the spontaneous appearance of wounds similar to the crucifixion injuries on Jesus. So Zach meets up with Micah and Erica, Micah's daughter, and Reverend Magano and asks Erica if she remembers going in the house, which she says she doesn't remember. She doesn't even remember Zach. She doesn't remember any of it. What? Yeah. She doesn't remember what made her try to kill herself or actually doing it. That's crazy. So Micah has That's crazy. Micah has Reverend Magano do an exorcism in his church where Erica is visibly distraught. She's leaning over in her chair. She's markedly calm one minute. Even in the scene in Zach's documentary, you can tell something's not right. And her sister even said she was calm and weird. So when they finished with the exorcism, there was an actual number six engraved on her back. I what's so funny? Did you shouldn't hear Phil? No. He said engraved in her ass. Oh my god. So a friend of Zach's, Debbie Constantino, saw the headlines from La Toya's Exorcism and decided to try to help by getting in touch with this entity from afar, from wherever she was at the time. She captured an EVP that was fairly garbled, but the words something's wrong could be heard. We have to touch on this real quick. Gary, Indiana has, or at least at the time, had the highest murder rate in the country and was overrun by poverty and crime. So that's like a breeding ground for paranormal activity. Just like if your house is a constant mess, you are more susceptible to paranormal activity.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and all the negative energy being thrown between people.
SPEAKER_00Well, that and like when a house is in chaos, when it's a mess, the average person is probably depressed or angry and like can't find a way out of it. And so that just creates like more chaos for activity. Zach brings in Dr. Barry Taff, who has participated in over 4,500 investigations, and he essentially tests the grounds for man-made or earth-made electric magnetic or geomagnetic energy, which can both play tricks on the brain. So the magnetic field tests were all at the expected levels, but the basement was spiking in the middle of the room instead of off of the walls. He called it transient pulsing, and it seemed to be following Zach. Interesting. So Zach has to leave the basement all of a sudden, and he has a pain in his temples, and his eyes start hurting. At this point, there's a ton of audio interference, and Zach starts getting aggravated. So Dr. Taft tests the energy around Zach and says Zach getting aggravated. But Dr. Taft does test the energy around Zach and says it's eight to twelve million times higher than normal. Million. Eight times eight to twelve million times higher than normal. That's a lot. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Maybe that, but who's to say that's not his regular energy? That's true.
SPEAKER_00He is pretty amped up.
SPEAKER_02So Zach then Also, please don't sue us or get mad at us because Right.
SPEAKER_00Zach has to stop himself from lunging at Dr. Taff. So the doctor states that he was hearing a dog bark in the doorway of the basement, and so did the camera operator, but none of the neighbors had dogs at the time.
SPEAKER_02I have another story where dogs that don't exist bark, and I don't know what it is about that. I don't fucking like it.
SPEAKER_00No. A ghost dog makes it like a big thing. I don't like it. So apparently, everyone who has visited the basement had this like lost in thought or confused look on their face, and you can see it in the footage as you're watching this documentary. Interesting. Just like everyone else, Dr. Taff is experiencing this lost in thought, confused phenomenon and gets dizzy and starts swaying back and forth. At this point, Zach goes outside to get away from everything and from the doctor, who is still in this weird, confused trance. He walks toward the hallway and the cameraman captures a weird shadow anomaly for just a fraction of a second. It almost looks like a finger pointing at him from the edge of the screen. And right after that, the doctor puts his hand in the same spot and starts getting dizzy, nauseated, and confused all over again. So not too long after the cameraman, Adam, gets confused and needs to sit down. So they start questioning if this entity went into him. Adam eventually wanders off and goes to lay back in the back bedroom. So this is where I started really getting freaked out because it was like you were almost watching an oppression happen in real time. The crew all go back to their hotel and Adam starts vomiting blood and screaming Zack's name. He comes out of his room saying he's going back to the house and slams his body against the elevator door and starts screaming at this demon, calling him a bitch. Oh. At the same time, it's reported that Dr. Taff, who is two floors up, is experiencing anxiety, irritability. He hears a loud bell, he falls and wakes up on the ground and he's bleeding from both ears. Ugh. Yeah. Fuck. That's a rough night.
SPEAKER_02That hurts my ears. I have a question. Um If you started vomiting blood, would you go to the doctor? Yeah. Yes.
SPEAKER_00I absolutely that's the first stop I'm making in my run of errands.
SPEAKER_02Well, to be fair, you're kind of a hypochondriac, so I don't you think your appendix is gonna burst. Okay, well, one day it will. So the And no one will believe you because you cried wolves so many fucking times.
SPEAKER_00Anyway, the crew eventually get Adam to calm down a little and they get him into one of their rooms where he asks that the cameras be turned off. But of course, like any true friend, one of them is secretly filming under the table.
SPEAKER_02Okay, but also uh you're making a documentary.
SPEAKER_00So I you gotta catch it. It's it's all but he's a cameraman. He's not he's n he didn't agree to be on camera.
SPEAKER_02I just think of nature documentaries where like a baby elephant's getting lost and the camera people could help him, but they're not ethically allowed to. Right. I feel like you're also held to an ethical standard to tell the whole truth.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's okay, I can see that. Adam says as he's sitting there that he felt like someone was stabbing him. He's tells Zach, there was a face, and I think you know what I saw, bro. Referring to the nightmare Zach had about the demon goat. Wow. I love that. I love it when it comes full circle.
SPEAKER_02Yes, I love it when it comes full circle moment. I um if I were Zach, I would be like, What the fuck do you mean? Uh yeah, I would be like, I don't know what you're talking about.
SPEAKER_00I don't know. I don't know, I don't know what the I don't know what that means. So he tells the crew it wants Zach. Oh. At this point, he says something cold is touching his hands, and another crew member notices that the air all around Adam is freezing. Adam starts saying, Do something better than that, you fucking bitch. Oh yeah. Demons don't like to be called bitches. I get it. So not long after they leave the hotel, Dr. Taff, who remember fell out of bed and his ears were bleeding, he goes to the hospital and finds out that his organs have started shutting down one by one without explanation.
SPEAKER_02Well, he started bleeding from the ears. Yes. So I'd say something is physically wrong with him.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but the doctors have no idea what's happening. That's scary. Yeah. Adam's behavior continues to be disturbing, and at one point he tells Zach, break the bathroom mirror and kill yourself. Wow. Yeah. If you said that to me. I would be so upset. I don't think I would ever look at you the same ever again. What if it was a demon saying it? Uh no. Using me. No. I would always I there's this thing deep down inside me that says you can never get rid of a demon. Like it's all you're always gonna be possessed. At least like a little tiny, like half a percent. Yeah, I agree. So I would never trust you again. Absolutely not. Never in a million years. I'd still hang out with you though.
SPEAKER_02Well, yeah. And when you did weird shit, I'd just be like, it's fine. Yeah, we're gonna move past it.
SPEAKER_00Yep. Zach and the crew eventually have to cut ties with Adam because of his erratic behavior, but they do offer him help, which he refuses. He also tattooed 666 on each hand where he claimed the demon was touching him.
SPEAKER_02That's almost as bad as saying his fucking name. Yeah. Or their fuck I shouldn't misgender the demon, but that's almost as bad. Mm-hmm. Yeah. That's a terrible fucking idea.
SPEAKER_00Why don't you just go ahead and get all their names tattooed on you? Right. The next step in their journey is for Zack to literally board himself up inside the house. Yeah, of course. Okay. Obviously. So Captain Austin puts up the last piece of plywood over the door and screws it shut. And Zack tells Captain Austin not to let him out until the morning. I feel like that's really dramatic.
SPEAKER_02Just don't leave. Just lock the door.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I don't you didn't have to. Maybe he just doesn't trust himself. If something is happening to the point that you have to bang down the door to get out, I don't What if there was a murderer in there?
SPEAKER_00That's true. And I think I think if I remember correctly, Captain Austin says something about like, what if the house is on fire?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that just doesn't seem safe at all. It's not up to fire code. No, probably not at all. So at first, Zach wanders around the house for a while and he's afraid to turn off the light. But at 8 14, he finally turns the light off and the infrared camera on. Nothing really happens for a while. He goes down to the basement. Then at 12 47, he hears a woman speaking in the kitchen saying, That's my baby. At 4 51, he's sitting up in bed and hears a low growl that turns into a louder growl. And you can hear it all on camera. I don't remember that. I totally remember it. It scared the shit out of me. He starts yelling, get away from me, get away, back the fuck up, and throws something in the direction of the growling before he starts screaming, get me the fuck out of here. And he's uh he's not gonna make it. He's he it's only uh one in the morning. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Well, okay, so this is weird to me. Have you, I'm sure, ha you've noticed that on Zach's show he always wears those big Coke bottle glasses? Yes. Okay. Forgot about that. So I totally thought that he was wearing fake glasses for like an aesthetic, but it turns out, remember that day that he had to leave the basement because he had that horrible pain in his temple?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00His eyes were seriously fucked up after that. His doctor diagnosed him with diplopia, which is double vision, and surgery runs the risk of complete blindness. Shit. Yeah. So whatever was in that basement, like physically fucked him up. That would suck. Going into a to start a documentary without vision problems, you get attacked by something in the basement and then come out with like a lifelong condition. And it's one that we can see in real time from like the beginning of the documentary from his show where he's not wearing glasses and then he is. Yeah. Like it's happening in real time. So after this experience, Zach was so freaked out that he had the house torn down and all the remnants buried in a landfill. So now there's a possible possession of two places. He did keep some stuff from the house, like the crucifixes, the stairs, and dirt. The rest of the house is c is completely gone, but he did say that people repeatedly show up to do satanic rituals at the plot of land where the house used to be. God damn it. You can't stop a hustle. They're gonna do something no matter what. Oh my god. Let's take a look back at the number of victims this house has claimed just while filming was taking place. This is just during filming. This is not before or after. So this is just those three years. So Erica, Micah's little girl, tried to kill herself and ended up with a giant six carved into her back after her exorcism. Debbie Constantino, the woman who tried getting in contact with the demon after Erica's exorcism, she was tragically killed along with her roommate by her husband in a double murder suicide. That's fucked up. Right? So Dr. Taft ended up with multiple organ failure, although from what I could find, he is still alive, I think. Um, Reverend Magano was riding his bike when he decided that he was going to perform a second exorcism on the Toya when all of a sudden he was thrown from his bike and is convinced it was the demon. I mean, it's coincidental timing. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02That I would probably think the same thing. Right. Captain Austin Also, I just picture him in like a priest robe riding his bike. I know me too. He looks like the priest from Casper.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, for sure. Um, Captain Austin visited the house, then two days later, slipped on ice, fell and hit his head, and was later shot during a home invasion. Jesus Christ.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00The second CPS worker, within a month of being at the house, she broke three ribs from jet skiing, got second degree burns from a motorcycle, broke her hand, and broke her ankle while out running.
SPEAKER_02Wait, like all those things were separate incidents. All separate incidences.
SPEAKER_00That's a lot. Yeah. The home inspector, the one that came to see if there was like mold and carbon dioxide. Even the poor home inspector. He nearly had a tree fall on his car while he was returning home. Jesus Christ. Then he was choked by an unseen force while sleeping, and he developed cancer soon after.
SPEAKER_02Oh my God.
SPEAKER_00So my question All he was doing was his job. I know. That's so sad. So my question to you, Simone, and everyone out there listening if that house was still standing, would you go in?
SPEAKER_02I want to say no, because fuck that.
SPEAKER_00But I don't, I think my curiosity would get the better of me. I agree. I think I would definitely my first inclination is like, fuck no, not after hearing what's happened to all those people. But if presented the opportunity, there's no way I would be able to pass it up.
SPEAKER_02But well, and there are people who have been in the house that never felt anything and nothing ever happened. So I think it'd be it would just be interesting to get a feel for the place. Yeah. On your own. Would you go in the basement? Yeah. If I went in the house, I'd go in the basement. Would you spend a night there? Uh no. But not because the house is haunted, because I don't do well without sleep.
SPEAKER_00But what if you you like you could spend the night there and actually sleep? Um or try to. No. Remember the ghost wants you in bed by eight.
SPEAKER_02I I won't disagree with that. Uh I can he send me to my room too? If you it's up to you. I the reason I wouldn't sleep there is because the majority of my paranormal slash uh like meditative state happens between awake and falling asleep. And so I hear the most shit, I see the most shit, feel it, all of that in that realm. So I don't I wouldn't want to stay the night anywhere that's really haunted because of that reason. Because it would for sure come to me in that state.
SPEAKER_00I would totally stay the night, but not by myself. Somebody else has to be with me.
SPEAKER_02Like who?
SPEAKER_00I don't even care.
SPEAKER_02Who would you trust the most to stay in the night in the house with you?
SPEAKER_00Well, Phil's gonna pass out and like be done with it, and I'm gonna be up by myself. I guess I would have to trust you, because it's between you and Phil, nobody else. Yeah. So I guess if you're not doing it, I'm not doing it. Yeah, uh, I'd probably fall asleep too. Yeah. Anyway, listeners, that that wraps up this week's episode.
